On the morning of May 28, at Thanh Long Sports Training Center (HCMC), General Secretary of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) Nguyen Van Phu had a meeting and encouraged the Vietnam U19 women's team before the whole team competed in the 2025 Southeast Asian U19 Women's Championship.
At the meeting, General Secretary Nguyen Van Phu affirmed VFF's belief in the efforts and preparation of head coach Okiyama Masahiko and his team.
"The challenges ahead are not small, but VFF believes that the coaching staff and the whole team will achieve the best results in this tournament, creating momentum for further goals in the year and towards important international tournaments in the near future," General Secretary Nguyen Van Phu emphasized.

On behalf of her teammates, young player Luu Hoang Van expressed his determination to conquer the tournament: "The whole team is trying every day on the training ground. Last season, we reached the final but could not win the championship, that is a regrettable thing. This time, the whole team is very determined, aiming for the best results".
In the 2022 season, Hoang Van once scored 5 goals and continued to set the maximum contribution goal to the overall achievement. Hoang Van also sent his gratitude to the fans and affirmed the fans' companionship is always a great source of encouragement to the team.
"We hope to receive a lot of cheers at home and will compete with all our might, contributing beautiful matches in this tournament," Hoang Van shared.
According to the plan, this afternoon, the Vietnam U19 women's team will have a practice match with the District 1 U15 men's team at Thong Nhat Stadium. This is considered an important professional preparation step before officially entering the tournament.
The 2025 U19 Southeast Asian Women's Football Championship will take place from June 9 to June 18 in Ho Chi Minh City. The eight teams divided into two groups to compete in a round-robin format to calculate ranking points. The top two teams in each group will qualify for the semi-finals, followed by the third-place matches and the finals.
In this tournament, the U19 Vietnam women's team is in Group A with opponents Myanmar, Laos and Timor Leste. Group B includes Thailand, Indonesia, Cambodia and Malaysia.
