U19 Vietnam women's team aims for Southeast Asian championship

Coach Okiyama Masahiko said that the goal of the Vietnam U19 Women's Team is to aim for the 2025 Southeast Asian U19 Championship.

On May 23, coach Okiyama Masahiko of the Vietnam U19 women's team shared with the press before the training session at Thanh Long Sports Center (HCMC).

The Japanese coach expressed his satisfaction with the spirit, attitude and seriousness in training of his students over the past 10 days.

Coach Okiyama said: "The players are in good spirits, united and trained seriously. Some students have speed, others possess good technique.

However, the whole team needs to improve their physical strength to maintain their form throughout the 90 minutes of high-intensity competition".

In the upcoming tournament, U19 Vietnam women's team is in Group A with Myanmar, Laos and Timor Leste. Group B includes Thailand, Indonesia, Cambodia and Malaysia.

Coach Okiyama emphasized that we must not be subjective: Every match is important. Myanmar and Thailand are considered on par with us, so we need to analyze and prepare carefully.

He also affirmed: The tournament is held in Vietnam, and our goal is to win the championship. I want Vietnamese audiences to celebrate with the team.

The 2025 Southeast Asian U19 Women's Tournament will take place from June 9 to June 18 in Ho Chi Minh City.
