Today (May 27), Mr. Tran Anh Tu - Vice President of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) met and encouraged the national U19 women's team that is training at Thanh Long Sports Center (HCMC) to prepare for the 2025 Southeast Asian U19 Women's Football Championship.
The VFF Vice President visited the team's meeting place and spent time talking, encouraging the players, as well as listening to reports from the coaching staff on the team's preparation process in the past two weeks.
According to the coaching staff, the U19 women's team has officially gathered since May 12 with a serious training spirit. Athletes are making efforts to complete the set lesson plan, showing high determination in each training session. Up to now, the team has had the best force with 30 players.
Within the framework of the preparation phase, the team will have two friendly matches on May 28 and May 29 at Thong Nhat Stadium, helping the coaching staff have more basis for professional assessment and tactical adjustment.
The 2025 Southeast Asian U19 Women's Football Championship will take place from June 9 to June 18 in Ho Chi Minh City, organized by VFF in coordination with the Ho Chi Minh City Football Federation.
The eight teams will divide into two groups to compete in a round-robin format to calculate ranking points. The top two teams in each group will qualify for the semi-finals, followed by the third-place and final matches.
In this tournament, the U19 Vietnam women's team is in Group A with opponents Myanmar, Laos and Timor Leste. Group B includes Thailand, Indonesia, Cambodia and Malaysia.
The Vietnam U19 women's team will continue to practice at Thanh Long Center until June 6 before moving to the official accommodation of the tournament.
