On the afternoon of August 10, the Vietnam U20 team continued to have a practice match within the framework of a training trip in Japan. The opponent of coach Yutaka Ikeuchi's team is Koukou High School.
After 90 minutes of play, U20 Vietnam won with a score of 4-0. Tan Minh opened the score in the first half. In the second half, Cong Hau scored a double, before Quang Anh scored to seal the 4-0 victory.
Notably, the coaching staff continued to proactively rotate the squad. The starting players in the practice match with Osaka University of Economics the day before were given a break, while the remaining players were given the opportunity to play.
This is a way for U20 Vietnam to maintain the intensity of the match but still control the fitness for the whole team. With 30 players on the training list, coach Yutaka Ikeuchi has the opportunity to test many personnel options, and at the same time assess the playing ability of each player in different positions.
The victory against Koukou High School also helps U20 Vietnam continue to accumulate competition experience in the preparation phase for the 2027 AFC U20 Championship Qualifiers.
According to the plan, U20 Vietnam still has 4 training matches in Japan on August 12, August 13, August 15 and August 16. The team will finish the training trip on August 17 and return home.
At the 2027 AFC U20 Championship qualifiers, U20 Vietnam is in Group C with the U20 DPRK, U20 Palestine and U20 Iran teams. The matches take place from August 31st to September 6th at Viet Tri Stadium (Phu Tho).
