2024 is the breakthrough year for Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen at both the national team level and in the club jersey. Fans witnessed the return of the 2000-born setter in the Vietnam women's volleyball team jersey after more than 2 years of absence for personal reasons.
Bich Tuyen's presence in coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet's squad was timely and appropriate in the context that main striker number 1 Tran Thi Thanh Thuy did not have the best physical condition during the injury recovery period.
Not disappointing expectations, the 2000-born setter became the main hitter, scoring the most points for the Vietnamese women's volleyball team in 5 tournaments in 2024, helping the team win the AVC Challenge Cup, 3rd place in the FIVB Challenger Cup, 2nd place in the SEA V.League, 5th place in the Future Stars (friendly) and 2nd place in the VTV Cup.
Meanwhile, at the club level, Bich Tuyen is the leader of LPB Ninh Binh. The Vinh Long native is the best scorer for the home team in domestic competitions such as the National Championship, Hung Vuong Cup, VTV9 - Binh Dien Cup, Open Army Cup...; international competitions are the 2024 Asian Club Championship (runner-up) and the World Club Championship also in 2024.
"Returning to the national team in 2024 makes me very happy and emotional. Being able to participate in tournaments with my teammates to fight, I feel very honored and proud.
I have a more stable competitive mentality and a more confident fighting spirit when participating in big tournaments. When facing opponents of higher level and technique, especially teams with good physique, I am no longer hesitant.
Overall, in 2024, I feel that I have matured a certain amount in my mentality and playing skills. This is a happy year for me. I am happy with the titles that the team has achieved. I think it is time for me to be more confident in expressing myself," Bich Tuyen told Lao Dong.
Important tasks in 2025
The Vietnam Volleyball Federation (VFV) has worked with the coaching staff of the national volleyball teams (indoor, beach) on a professional preparation plan towards the 33rd SEA Games, held in Thailand at the end of 2025.
Mr. Le Tri Truong - General Secretary of VFV said: "The goal that the Federation is aiming for with the men's and women's indoor volleyball teams is to reach the finals at the 33rd SEA Games.
But after the Vietnamese women's volleyball team had impressive results in 2023 and 2024, the leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Department of Physical Training and Sports reviewed the details and assigned the target that the Vietnamese women's volleyball team must win a gold medal.
This is a difficult task for coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team because in addition to the formidable opponent Thailand, Vietnam also has to overcome other teams that have also made significant impressions recently, such as Indonesia and the Philippines.
However, the national women's team has a generation of players entering their prime, with a wealth of international experience. The most anticipated player is still opposite Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen.
