Border Guard Club has kicked off the new season with the championship of the Hoa Lu - Binh Dien Cup Volleyball Championship 2025. One of the factors that contributed greatly to the recent title of the army team is setter Dinh Van Duy.
This player plays the role of conductor in the playing style of Border Guard with transformative passes and good connections with surrounding satellites such as Nguyen Ngoc Thuan, Duy Tuyen... With an impressive performance, Dinh Van Duy received the title of "Best Setter" of the tournament held in Ninh Binh.
Talking to Lao Dong, the male player born in 2000 shared: "I have participated in the Hoa Lu - Binh Dien Cup for 4 years and won 2 championships. I think the factor that helped Border Guard win the championship this year is the determination of the whole team. Each member tries to play well in the first tournament of the year, so that "the beginning and end end end end" are not lost. For the Border Guard team, the recent title has created spirit and confidence for the players and is a stepping stone for the 2025 national championship".
Dinh Van Duy is considered the best setter in Vietnamese men's volleyball at present. He has demonstrated his ability and affirmed his role in both the club and the national team.

In particular, the male player from Dong Anh has only just returned after a period of injury. In July 2024, at the Army Volleyball Cup Open, Dinh Van Duy suffered a partial amputation of his lateral ligament, a fracture of his anterior cruciate ligament, and a partial tear in his cartilage. The injury of the number one setter caused all professional plans of the Border Guard men's team as well as the national team to be disrupted afterwards.
"It was a difficult time for me. At the end of the Army Cup, I returned to the national team. I am still on the team list but I am not allowed to compete with everyone. Therefore, I stay at the National Sports Training Center alone, practice, sleep alone, wait for everyone to come back before I return to the club.
I was also worried that when I returned, I would not be able to recover before the new year. After that, it took me 3 months to recover. Currently, I can practice and compete normally but my physical strength has not recovered 100%.
The biggest obstacle after being injured is that he can no longer perform difficult moves, needs to move flexibly, and start from the feet as much as before", Dinh Van Duy expressed.
Phase 1 of the 2025 National Volleyball Championship will kick off in Dong Anh, Hanoi - Dinh Van Duy's hometown. He will have more motivation to work with the Border Guard club to achieve good results in this year's tournament.
