The Vietnamese boxing team arrived in Japan on the morning of September 19 to participate in ASIAD 20.
At this Congress, the Vietnamese boxing team only registered 5 female athletes including Nguyen Thi Tam, Vo Thi Kim Anh, Ha Thi Linh, Hoang Ngoc Mai, Luu Diem Quynh and 1 male athlete Nguyen Duc Ngoc.
Among them, Nguyen Thi Tam and Ha Thi Linh are 2 veteran players of the Vietnamese boxing team at ASIAD 20.
Boxer Nguyen Thi Tam has been given the opportunity to continue participating in ASIAD 20 after regaining her expertise and good fitness through domestic tournaments in 2026.
She participated in ASIAD 18 in 2018 and won a bronze medal.
This year, Nguyen Thi Tam sets a goal to strive to win medals at ASIAD 20.
Meanwhile, martial artist Ha Thi Linh also aims for the opportunity to win a medal at Aichi-Nagoya (Japan).
The player participated in ASIAD 19 in 2023 in China but has not won a medal.
Last year, Ha Thi Linh was the only athlete to win a gold medal for the Vietnamese boxing team at SEA Games 33 in Thailand.
Before participating in ASIAD 20, the boxer of the Vietnamese boxing team was trained in Thailand.
According to the assessment of the coaching staff, each athlete participating in ASIAD 20 is determined to achieve the highest results.
At ASIAD 19, the Vietnamese boxing team won 1 bronze medal in the women's 75kg weight class of martial artist Luu Diem Quynh.
She continues to participate in ASIAD 20 in Japan this year.
The organizers of ASIAD 20 boxing will conduct competitions from September 21 to October 2. Boxing has 6 male weight classes and 5 female weight classes organized.
