The Vietnamese youth boxing team departed to participate in the 2026 AFC U19 and U23 Championships in Indonesia on July 2 with 25 members.
At this year's tournament, the Vietnamese youth boxing team has registered 20 players to compete in their forte weight classes in the U19, U23 men's and U19, U23 women's age groups respectively.
Among them, 2 athletes Ngo Ngoc Linh Chi and Nguyen Thi Ngoc Tran are the martial artists expected to achieve high results in Indonesia.
In addition, the coaching staff of the Vietnamese Youth Boxing Team also includes a number of other promising players such as Le Thi Quynh Anh, Dam Thi Mai Anh, Vu Thi Thom, Bui Viet Hoang, Tran Quang Loc, Phan Quang Tuan, Nguyen Gia Minh...
This year, the Asian Boxing Federation and the Organizing Committee apply the regulation that female boxers participating in the event are required to undergo a gender test and submit the results (PCR test).
When ensuring compliance with regulations and having results recognizing female gender, the boxer is allowed to register to compete in the women's event according to the promulgated regulations. The boxers of the Vietnamese Youth Boxing Team participating in the women's event at the tournament comply with the above regulations.
In the tournament, each age group including U19 men, U19 women, U23 men, U23 women will have 10 weight classes to compete.
Athletes are checked for weight and drawn lots on July 3. Day 4. 7 the tournament officially opens to compete until the end of July 16.
The Vietnamese youth boxing team aims to strive to win a medal at the tournament.
Currently, the U19 age group is the regulated age group for boxers participating in the 2026 World Youth Olympics.
