Nghiem Van Y is a leading MMA fighter in Vietnamese sports and has entered the semi-finals of the Road to UFC 2025. The match between Nghiem Van Y and Lawrence lui took place on the evening of August 22 in Shanghai (China).
In the first half, Nghiem Van Y played enthusiastically, proactively hitting with high-altitude kicks to overwhelm the opponent. However, Lawrence lui played smartly with a distance to make dangerous attacks.
In the second half, Nghiem Van Y and his opponent still made dangerous attacks to find an opportunity to defeat the opponent. A surprise happened in the middle of the match, Nghiem Van Y got a punch from Lawrence lui and fell to the floor. Taking advantage, Lawrence lui approached to attack Nghiem Van Y with rice crushes. The referee stopped the match. Lawrence lui won by knockout.
Before that, to reach the semi-final, Nghiem Van Y won by knockout against boxer Rui Imura (Japan) in the quarter-final match. Unfortunately, the fighter of MMA Vietnam did not have a further victory on August 22.
Boxer Nghiem Van Y was a former player of the Vietnam Wushu Team. Nghiem Van Y attended the 2018 18th ASIAD in Indonesia, winning a bronze medal. This is the only fighter of Vietnamese sports participating in the Road to UFC 2025.
