Domestic coffee prices decreased by 2,000 VND/kg
Recorded on the morning of March 27, 2025, domestic coffee prices ranged from 132,400 - 133,400 VND/kg, down 2,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday. Details of some localities:
Dak Lak: 133,400 VND/kg (-2,000).
Lam Dong: 132,400 VND/kg (-2,000).
Gia Lai: 133,300 VND/kg (-2,000).
Dak Nong: 133,400 VND/kg (-2,000).
After a strong increase at the beginning of the week, profit-taking pressure along with a decrease in the world market has affected domestic coffee prices, pushing up purchase prices slightly.
Robusta on London floor plummets
At ICE Futures Europe ( London), Robusta prices for all terms on March 26, 2025 ( GMT) decreased by more than 2%:
May 2025 term (05/25): 5,437 USD/ton, down 154 USD (-2.75%).
July 2025 term (07/25): 5,443 USD/ton, down 136 USD (-2.44%).
September 2025 term (09/25): 5,407 USD/ton, down 126 USD (-2.28%).
November 2025 term (11/25): 5,324 USD/ton, down 123 USD (-2.26%).
The trading volume is still concentrated in near-term contracts (May, July) with 9,281 and 9,366 lots respectively. The sharp decrease shows that speculative buying power has weakened after many escalating prices.
Arabica on the New York exchange also "cooled down"
Unlike a few days ago, Arabica coffee prices on ICE Futures U.S. turned around and decreased sharply:
May 2025 term (05/25): 392.00 cents/lb, down 6.55 cents (-1.64%).
July 2025 term (07/25): 386.15 cents/lb, down 6.50 cents (1.66%).
September 2025 term (09/25): 380.50 cents/lb, down 5.95 cents (1.54%).
December 2025 term (12/25): 372.30 cents/lb, down 5.10 cents (1.35%).
Many investors have stepped up their profit-taking as Arabica prices have risen steadily last week. In addition, better weather forecasts for Brazil have also eased supply concerns.
Reasons for the simultaneous decline in coffee prices
The coffee market is facing profit-taking pressure after a heated increase, causing purchasing power to weaken. In addition, positive information about the progress of the crop in Brazil has eased concerns about Arabica shortages. Although coffee inventories on the stock exchange are still low, they no longer create the effect of pushing prices as before when speculators temporarily cool down.
Coffee price forecast
Short-term: Domestic coffee prices may continue to fluctuate slightly, depending on speculative cash flow on the international exchange and farmers' selling moves.
Medium term: If the weather in large growing areas continues to be favorable, Robusta and Arabica coffee output will improve, thereby creating less pressure on the market.
