Domestic coffee prices
The price storm is still sweeping through the Central Highlands coffee market. This morning (February 5), purchasing agents continued to adjust down from 800 - 900 VND/kg, causing the general price level to fall below the 95,000 VND/kg mark just set yesterday. The average price across the region is currently only 94,770 VND/kg.
In Dak Lak province, the purchase price of coffee decreased by 800 VND, falling to 94,700 VND/kg. Dak Nong province (old) although still maintaining the highest price in the region, also decreased by 900 VND, only 94,800 VND/kg.
Gia Lai province recorded a similar decrease, trading at 94,600 VND/kg. The most worrying thing is that in Lam Dong, the price of raw coffee beans has fallen to 93,800 VND/kg after losing another 900 VND in this morning's session.
World coffee prices
The international market in the recent session continued to witness strong selling pressure on both fronts. The New York Arabica exchange was the focus of the decline when the March 2026 term lost 8.45 cents (equivalent to 2.66%), closing at 308.65 cents/lb. This is the lowest price recorded in 5.75 months.
The London Robusta exchange was also not more optimistic when the March 2026 term fell 49 USD (1.28%), closing the session at 3.761 USD/ton, falling to the lowest level in 6 weeks. The main reason is still the weather factor in Brazil. Meteorological reports confirm that the Minas Gerais region has received abundant rainfall (69.8 mm) in the past week, helping to completely ease drought worries and improve the yield prospects for the next crop.
Market outlook and forecast
The market is undergoing a series of deep corrections due to the combination of many unfavorable factors. Global coffee supply is showing more abundant signals as inventories on the ICE exchange are continuously recovering: Arabica inventories have reached a 3.25-month high and Robusta has also increased to a 2-month high. In addition, pressure from Vietnam's harvest is still very high with strong export output growth.
However, in the opposite direction, the decline in Brazil's coffee exports in December (especially Robusta decreased by 61%) is still a potential supporting factor. In the context of the Lunar New Year approaching, market liquidity often decreases, domestic coffee prices may continue to fluctuate in a narrow range around 93,000 - 95,000 VND/kg.
