Domestic coffee prices
Coffee prices today, July 9, in the Central Highlands provinces increased slightly by 300 - 400 VND/kg compared to yesterday. In Dak Lak and Gia Lai, the prices are trading around VND93,800/kg and VND93,600/kg. Dak Nong is also at 93,600 VND/kg, while Lam Dong is lower, reaching about 93,300 VND/kg.
The domestic coffee price level is still about 2,500 - 2,800 VND/kg lower than the peak set in April (over 96,000 VND/kg).
World coffee prices
The trading session on July 8 ended with positive developments on both exchanges.
In London, Robusta futures for September increased sharply by 42 USD to 3,568 USD/ton; other futures also added 45 - 47 USD/ton. Notably, this is the first sharp increase after a long series of declines, helping prices regain some of the lost level.
In New York, Arabica prices for September delivery also increased by 7.35 cents, to 285.60 cents/lb. Longer terms such as December, March and May 2026 also increased simultaneously from 7.10 - 7.25 cents. This is the best increase in more than a week.
Compared to last weekend's session, Robusta prices have recovered to around 42 - 47 USD/ton, while Arabica has recovered nearly 7 - 8 cents/pound. However, compared to early June or mid-April 2025, the price is still significantly lower.
Market analysis
Today's price increase was supported by technical buying power after Robusta and Arabica prices simultaneously hit a short-term bottom last week.
According to the US Department of Agriculture (USDA), global coffee output in the 2024-2025 crop year could reach 174.4 million bags, up 2.98% compared to the previous crop. The next crop (2025-2026) could reach nearly 178.7 million bags, mainly thanks to Brazil and Vietnam's large harvest. Meanwhile, global consumption demand is only around 169.4 million bags, showing an increasingly obvious risk of supplyovers.
In the domestic market, coffee prices have increased but have not yet surpassed the threshold of VND94,000/kg. The market continues to be under pressure as domestic supply is gradually being released to prepare for the new crop starting in October.
