Perspectives and forecasts
The Vietnam Pepper and Spice Plant Association (VPSA) believes that there are many factors supporting pepper prices in 2026. The year-end flood situation in the Central Highlands region will certainly affect the output of the upcoming harvest season, while world demand still maintains an upward trend.
Although domestic prices have technical downward adjustments, market sentiment is still assessed as positive thanks to import demand from major markets and stable controlled supply in major manufacturing countries.
According to estimates by the Import-Export Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade), Vietnam's pepper exports in December 2025 are estimated to reach 20,000 tons, worth 132 million USD, a fairly strong increase of 11% in volume and 11.1% in value compared to the previous month, while continuing to increase by 35.7% in volume and 35.2% in value compared to the same period last year.
In general, in 2025, the volume of pepper exports is estimated at 243 thousand tons, with an estimated value of about 1.64 billion USD. Compared to the same period last year, pepper exports decreased by 2.6% but the value increased by 24.9%.
This is a new record for Vietnam's pepper industry when it is about 327 million USD higher than in 2024 and far exceeds the record recorded in 2016 of 1.42 billion USD.
