Assessments and forecasts
Vietnamese domestic pepper prices increased in the first days of May 2026 mainly due to the depletion of supply after the harvest season ended, with inventory transferred to this year at a record low. Increased import demand from many markets also creates favorable selling prices.
In addition, farmers' psychology of keeping goods when they see prices exceeding the threshold of 140,000 VND/kg and worrying about extreme heat affecting the output of the next crop further pushes prices up.
Regarding the short-term vision, the Import-Export Department forecasts that pepper prices will continue to maintain an upward trend or move sideways at a high level. However, the market is entering a new price increase cycle due to a global supply shortage, and it is highly likely to soon reach the milestone of 150,000 - 160,000 VND/kg at the end of the year when businesses intensify the purchase of goods for Q4 orders.
