Assessment and forecast
The exemption of countervailing taxes gives Vietnamese enterprises a higher competitive advantage than many countries that were not previously exempt from taxes.
At the same time, this new policy helps reduce import costs for US distributors, contributing to increasing the ability to sign new contracts and improving stability for the Vietnamese pepper and spice market in 2026.
For enterprises that have paid counterpart taxes since November 13, they can carry out tax refund procedures according to the regulations of the United States Customs. The Vietnam Pepper and Spices Association (VPSA) recommends that businesses immediately review shipments exported to the United States after the above time and work with customs agents to submit tax refund documents on time.
