Assessment and forecast
According to experts, Vietnamese pepper output this year may continue to decrease. The prolonged drought in the first months of 2025 has significantly affected pepper production in the Central Highlands and Southeast provinces. Some rains have appeared in some areas to help relieve the drought in pepper gardens, but for those that have been harvested, it will affect the differentiation of flower buds, leading to a decrease in pepper plant yield next year.
Although output has decreased, pepper growers are still confident about the upward price trend. Currently, Vietnam's pepper harvest is in its peak period and is expected to last until the end of April 2025. In previous years, during the pepper harvest, pepper prices often decreased due to abundant supply. But this year, even though it is the harvest time, domestic pepper prices are always around 150,000 VND/kg because farmers sell them at a low level.
