Assessment and forecast
In Harris Spice's March report, the company said that although harvesting has begun in most areas of Vietnam, the amount of pepper released to the market is still limited, which helps support prices. In addition, demand from traders and speculators has also affected the market. Market fluctuations also make buyers cautious in trading.
This year, pepper harvesting in Vietnam is one month later due to unseasonal rain. However, in general, pepper prices may continue to fluctuate within a moderate range when Vietnam is in the harvest season. Some mitigating adjustments may occur during the peak harvest. However, this depends largely on the willingness to sell of the producer, because good coffee prices in the past year have helped them significantly increase their ability to retain goods.
