Assessments and forecasts
The reversed price level in the first days of the new year shows that the domestic market is in a cautious state. Farmers are under selling pressure because inventory is no longer large, while export businesses are still cautious, waiting for more clear signals from international demand and world price movements.
Data from the Vietnam Customs Department shows that in January 2026, Vietnam exported 21,667 tons of pepper of all kinds, reaching a turnover of 139.3 million USD, an increase of nearly 68% in volume and 60% in value compared to the same period last year.
In which, import demand from the US recovered strongly after a period of deep decline last year, reaching 5,308 tons with a turnover of 38.8 million USD, an increase of 89.3% in volume and 80.5% in value compared to the same period. The US market share in Vietnam's total pepper export volume accordingly increased from 21.7% in 2024 to 24.5%.
