Domestic pepper prices: Reversal to decrease sharply
As of 11:30 today (October 5), domestic pepper prices are trading in the range of 144,000 - 146,000 VND/kg, an average decrease of 4,000 VND/kg compared to last week depending on the region.
At the end of last week, Dak Lak and Lam Dong both decreased sharply. While Dak Lak decreased by VND 4,000/kg, listed at VND 146,000/kg, Lam Dong lowered the price to VND 145,000/kg.
Pepper prices in Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai have decreased by 3,000 - 5,000 VND/kg, purchased at 145,000 VND/kg.
Notably, Gia Lai is the province that launched the lowest price at 144,000 VND/kg, down 4,000 VND/kg compared to the closing price of last week's session.
Compared to the end of August when the average purchase price was 144,700 VND/kg, the price this week is only 300 VND/kg higher.

World pepper prices: Developments in the same direction
According to the International Pepper Company (IPC), world pepper prices fluctuated in different directions last week.
Of which, Indonesia's black pepper price increased by 68 USD/ton compared to last week and is currently trading at 7,013 USD/ton. In the same direction, the price of Indonesian white pepper increased by 97 USD/ton, reaching 9,938 USD/ton.
On the other hand, Brazil ASTA 570 black pepper decreased sharply by 300 USD/ton, down to 6,200 USD/ton compared to last week.
ASTA Malaysia recorded a decrease of 100 - 500 USD/ton over the past week, trading at 9,500 USD/ton and 12,500 USD/ton, respectively.
Meanwhile, Vietnam's export black pepper prices remain unchanged, remaining at a high price range, anchored at 6,600 - 6,800 USD/ton for the 500 g/l and 550 g/l types. Vietnam's white sugar is unchanged at 9,250 USD/ton.
