Yen suddenly reverses to increase in price
According to Lao Dong, on July 30, the USD/JPY exchange rate decreased, falling below the 148 mark when the Japanese Yen (JPY) was supported by safe-haven demand in the context of investors being cautious before a series of important events taking place from major central banks.

The market is "holding its breath" waiting for the results of the US Federal Reserve's (FED) policy meeting, along with the Bank of Japan's (BoJ) monetary policy announcement on Thursday. Risk concerns have caused investors to shift to safe-haven assets such as the Yen, thereby putting pressure on the USD/JPY exchange rate. See more...

Prolonged heat, Hanoi's electricity consumption capacity reaches highest level in history
According to Hanoi Electricity Corporation (EVNHANOI), Hanoi's electricity consumption capacity reached an all-time high, reaching 5,608.6 MW at 1:42 p.m. on July 30, 2025.

Along with that, within just 2 days (from July 27 to 29), electricity output increased by nearly 40%, from 79.960 million kWh to 108.669 million kWh, a record increase showing the demand for cooling increased sharply in the hot weather. The group of household customers (households) accounts for the largest proportion of consumption, showing the clear influence of weather on electricity usage habits in daily life.
Outdoor temperatures are constantly maintained at 37-39°C, causing equipment such as air conditioners, refrigerators, and electrical fans to operate more and longer to maintain efficiency. This leads to increased electricity consumption even though the usage period has not changed. See more...
