Securities hit a new peak
The stock market remained green in the trading session on August 8 despite many times witnessing short adjustments. The VN-Index has changed color from red to green many times and then red again.

Yen suddenly reverses flow
According to Lao Dong, on August 8, the Japanese Yen (JPY) depreciated against the USD, under pressure from positive market sentiment and a new report from the Bank of Japan (BoJ).
The Minutes of the "Summary of Opinions" meeting in July showed that policymakers are still concerned about tariff instability from the US, but maintained the view that they will continue to raise interest rates in the coming time.

Optimism in the Japanese stock market further reduces demand for the Yen as a safe-haven asset. The Topix index surpassed the 3,000-point mark for the first time, while Nikkei 225 increased to its highest level since July 25.

Strong increase in smuggling cases through seaports, counterfeit goods of Vietnamese origin
According to the Customs Department, the total import-export value of goods in July 2025 reached 82.29 billion USD, an increase of 8% over the previous month. Of which, exports reached 42.29 billion USD, up 7%, imports reached 40 billion USD, up 9.1%. The trade surplus reached 2.29 billion USD, down 20% compared to the surplus of 2.86 billion USD in June.
Total budget revenue from import-export activities in July reached VND38,121 billion, down 2.7% compared to June. From the beginning of the year to the end of July, the revenue reached VND 261,376 billion, equal to 63.6% of the estimate and increasing by 9.1% over the same period in 2024.

In July, the Customs force detected and handled 1,790 violations, an increase of 11.7% over the same period in 2024, with the total value of violated goods of about VND1,481 billion. The budget revenue from handling violations reached 76.53 billion VND. There were 2 cases prosecuted, 14 cases transferred to other agencies for prosecution. See more...
