The market for buying and selling flowers and ornamental plants in Hanoi is entering the Tet peak season. These days, along roads such as Lac Long Quan, Quang Ba flower garden, Nhat Tan peach garden... is bustling with people buying peach blossoms and kumquats for Tet.
According to many people, this year's supply is quite abundant, the designs are diverse, and the price is also kept stable.
After consulting the flower and ornamental plant market for Tet, Ms. Bui Thi Tam (Ngoc Ha ward) decided to buy a kumquat pot for 900,000 VND. Ms. Tam said that this year's price is quite reasonable, with many choices, especially when buying early, she has even more choices.
The increasing demand for Tet shopping not only makes the market bustling but also creates job opportunities and improves income for many workers. On the roads, it is not difficult to see images of drivers busily carrying trucks full of peach blossoms and kumquats, bringing the colors of spring to each family.
Although he has reached retirement age, but near Tet, when the demand for buying peach and kumquat trees increases, Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung (Tay Ho ward) still takes advantage of driving a car to receive and transport peach and kumquat trees. These days, Mr. Dung can earn about 500,000 - 700,000 VND per day.
According to Mr. Dung, at this time, people's demand is high but not yet overloaded, so he still persistently sticks to the profession, both having the opportunity to increase income and enjoying the bustling atmosphere of Tet streets.

In the same hurry, Mr. Truong Ngoc Huy (Hong Ha ward) is also busy serving customers these days. The special feature of transporting ornamental plants is bulky goods, requiring high technique and caution. Mr. Huy said that to prevent plants from breaking and falling, maintaining their original shape, transporters must be equipped with specialized ropes and move extremely carefully.
Regarding costs, Mr. Huy revealed that the fare for each trip is calculated based on distance, averaging from 70,000 to 100,000 VND for inner-city routes; for orders to distant provinces such as Hung Yen, the fee can be up to 350,000 VND. Especially, for large, bulky trees or large quantity orders, many people have agreed to hire transport vehicles with costs many times higher than motorbikes.

Although the market has begun to become bustling, according to the general assessment of gardeners and workers, purchasing power this year is somewhat more bleak than in previous years due to people tightening spending. In addition, the warm weather causing early blooming also has some impact on the prices of some types of trees.
Many gardeners are currently making efforts to support customers by directly transporting if the distance is close to reduce arising costs. Meanwhile, hired transporters like Mr. Huy still persistently stick to the streets with a simple belief.
I always hope that in the days leading up to Tet, the number of customers will be more crowded. I just hope the work will be favorable so that workers like us have more income, take care of our families for a full Tet, with a'pot of banh chung with meat'," Mr. Huy confided.
