Busy people shopping
Recorded at traditional markets and supermarkets, the buying and selling atmosphere in the first days of the September 2 holiday was quite vibrant. The abundant amount of goods reserved makes consumer shopping more convenient. In particular, the consumption of fresh food has increased sharply compared to normal days due to the need to eat and party during the holidays.
Going to the market early on holidays, Ms. Nguyen Thi Danh (Ninh Kieu ward) chose to buy fresh seafood at Tan An market to cook for her family.
"On time for the holiday, I wanted to change the taste for the whole family, switching to eating seafood. I find at the market a variety of goods, from shrimp, crab, fish, squid... of all kinds, fresh. The price is not much different from normal days, so I can shop with peace of mind," Ms. Danh shared.
Meanwhile, Ms. Nguyen Dan Thanh (Ninh Kieu ward) chose the supermarket as a familiar shopping destination for the holidays. Ms. Thanh said that in the context of the complicated developments of the African swine fever epidemic, buying pork at supermarkets helps her feel more secure about the origin and quality.
"In addition to pork, other fresh foods at the supermarket are also promoted. Therefore, I took advantage of hunting for sales to have delicious food and save a significant amount during the few holidays, said Ms. Thanh.
Ensuring food safety
In the face of increased demand for fresh food, both traditional markets and supermarkets have proactively strengthened the work of ensuring food safety and hygiene.
Ms. Ly Thi Cam Chau - Head of Tan An Market Management Board - informed that according to the forecast, purchasing power during the holiday will increase by 5-10%, especially fresh food and seafood. Therefore, the unit has increased the stockpiling of goods as well as disseminated information about food safety and hygiene, security and order to small traders.
"The market management board has notified businesses about food safety and hygiene during the holiday. We also actively coordinate with Ninh Kieu ward to regularly check security and order in the market and the routes leading to the market, as well as remind about fire prevention and fighting work," Ms. Chau emphasized.
At Co.op Mart Can Tho supermarket, to ensure food safety and hygiene, the unit focuses on inspection and strict traceability of food from the input and throughout the business process.
Ms. Dang Ngoc Uyen Phuong - Deputy Director of Co.op Mart Can Tho supermarket - said that the purchasing power of pork products at the supermarket is currently at a good level. The unit has many promotional programs for fresh items from pork to fish, chicken... to stimulate shopping during the holidays.
At the fresh food stalls, supermarket staff are on duty regularly to serve customers, clean and ensure the shopping and preservation environment is always of good quality and hygienic, said Ms. Phuong.
