According to the Plan to implement the One Commune One Product (OCOP) Program for the period 2026 - 2030 (issued on July 22, 2026) of Can Tho City People's Committee, setting a goal to strive to 2030, the city maintains and develops 1,400 OCOP products with 3 stars or more, of which at least 10 products meet 5-star OCOP standards.
Can Tho City will upgrade 50% of OCOP products that have been evaluated and ranked; over 30% of products will be upgraded from 3 stars to 4 stars; 100% of OCOP Program managers at all levels and OCOP entities will be trained and retrained to improve their capacity.
Notably, this plan also sets a target of over 80% of OCOP products being promoted and consumed on digital platforms, e-commerce platforms, supermarket systems and convenience stores; developing 10 more points to introduce and sell OCOP products associated with tourist attractions, ecotourism and community tourism.
In fact, the set goals show that Can Tho is facing great development potential to elevate local OCOP products. Because, as the capital of the Mekong Delta region, Can Tho City possesses rich indigenous resources, from specialty fruit tree ecosystems, diverse aquatic resources to traditional craft villages rich in cultural values.
Proactively promoting digital transformation, putting over 80% of products on e-commerce platforms combined with eco-tourism and community-based tourism economic models will open up a "shortcut" for local agricultural products.
This combination not only solves the output problem, helping OCOP products directly reach tourists and the modern consumer market, but also turns each specialty into a "cultural messenger", optimizing the value chain and increasing sustainable income for people in riverine areas.

Previously, when exchanging with Lao Dong Newspaper, Ms. Huynh Thi Kieu Tien - Director of Quang Dang Private Enterprise for Production and Trading, representative of OCOP Mekong Delta store in Can Tho City - also said that just during the Binh Ngo Lunar New Year 2026, the unit's sales volume increased by nearly 40% compared to normal days. At other times of the year, the retail market remains stable.
Popular product lines are no longer limited to packaged dried goods, but are also diverse in fresh, pre-processed clean items such as fresh sausage, dried fish,... In the past 2 years, through grasping user psychology, it has been seen that there has been a shift and more attention to brands," Ms. Tien shared.
According to a representative of the OCOP Mekong Delta store in Can Tho City, from the actual supply of goods at each stage, it is seen that customers are willing to pay higher for certified products with clear cultural stories and especially environmentally friendly production processes.
According to the plan of Can Tho City People's Committee, to achieve the set goals, relevant sectors will focus on implementing many groups of key tasks and solutions. Notably, training and fostering OCOP officials and entities; supporting brand building, packaging innovation, labeling, traceability, digital transformation and e-commerce.
Can Tho City also expands its distribution system, organizes trade promotion activities, connects supply and demand, promotes domestic OCOP products and targets the international market.
