According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, the export value of vegetables and fruits in June 2025 is estimated to reach 750 million USD, bringing the total export value of vegetables and fruits in the first 6 months of 2025 to 3.05 billion USD.
Previously, in May 2025, the export value of Vietnam's fruit and vegetable reached more than 496 million USD. Thus, compared to May 2025, fruit and vegetable exports have increased by more than 50%.
However, the total export value of vegetables and fruits in the first 6 months of the year still decreased by 8.4% compared to the same period in 2024. The reason is said to be the sharp decline of the durian industry. After receiving information from China to tighten the inspection of cadimi and O gold, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment has continuously issued close instructions on quality management so that this industry can soon regain its position in exports.
Vietnamese vegetables and fruits are mainly exported to the Chinese market with an export value of 48.2%. The next two major fruit and vegetable export markets are the United States and South Korea with export value ratios of 9% and 5.7% respectively.
Compared to the same period last year, the export value of vegetables and fruits in the first 5 months of 2025 to the Chinese market decreased by 35.1%, of which durian was one of the items with the strongest decrease.
However, fruit and vegetable exports to the US market increased by 65.2%. In the group of 15 largest exporting markets, the export value of vegetables and fruits increased the most in the Hong Kong (China) market with an increase of 69.2%.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment forecasts that durian exports are likely to recover from the third quarter of 2025, especially during the main crop season from August to October. However, the recovery level still depends largely on whether businesses and farmers maintain food safety conditions as committed. If the violation continues, the risk of this industry still being exported is very high.
