For the first time, a Vietnamese Army officer takes on a senior position at the peacekeeping mission
On the morning of July 3, in Hanoi, the Ministry of National Defense held a ceremony to present the President's decision to officers enlisting for duties at the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission (UNMISS) in South Sudan (UNMISS) and the Minister of National Defense's Decision to send officers to participate in the ASEAN Observer Group in Cambodia.
Among the 3 green beret officers awarded the Decision this time, Lieutenant Colonel Luong Truong Vinh holds the position of Senior Liaison Officer cum Head of Military Observer Department of the UNMISS Mission. This is a new position and also the first time a Vietnamese People's Army officer has been trusted by the UN to take on a senior position at the UN PKO Mission.
Senior Lieutenant Colonel Luong Truong Vinh - Deputy Head of Department, Department of Local Affairs, Vietnam Peacekeeping Department, is an experienced officer, who has worked in the Mission of the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) and the UNMISS Mission.
Captain Nguyen Huy Hoang replaces Lieutenant Colonel Le Minh Thao to take on the position of Military Observer Officer.
Captain Do Tran The Anh replaces Major Tran Viet Cuong to take on the position of Military Observer Officer.
