On June 23, at the National Assembly House, Politburo Member, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man received Indian Ambassador to Vietnam Tshering Wangchuk Sherpa to pay a courtesy visit on the occasion of the Ambassador's start of his term in Vietnam.
At the reception, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man highly appreciated the Ambassador's efforts in promoting Vietnam-India relations, especially the positive contributions in coordinating the successful arrangement of the recent State visit to India by General Secretary and President To Lam.
National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man expressed his pleasure at the strong development of bilateral relations in recent times, especially the visit of General Secretary and President To Lam and the two countries' upgrade of relations to a Comprehensive and Strengthened Strategic Partnership.
National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man requested the Ambassador to continue to coordinate with relevant agencies to promote the effective implementation of the results achieved during the visit; towards the goal of bringing bilateral trade turnover to 25 billion USD, strengthening two-way investment and making science and technology a new pillar of cooperation, and expanding cooperation in the fields of defense - security, education, health, culture and people-to-people exchanges.
National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man also highly appreciated the positive cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two countries, welcomed the Indian National Assembly's establishment of the India - India Friendship Parliamentary Group; said that the Vietnamese National Assembly has also just established the Vietnam - India Friendship Parliamentary Group; proposed that the two sides further strengthen delegation exchanges, cooperation between specialized committees, friendship parliamentary groups and share experiences in legislative work, supervision and decision-making on important issues of each country.
Ambassador Tshering Wangchuk Sherpa said that senior leaders, scholars, media and public opinion in India all highly appreciate the results of General Secretary and President To Lam's State visit to India, believing that the visit is of special significance, creating a strong motivation to bring the relations between the two countries to a new height; The Indian Government is very interested and will closely coordinate with Vietnamese agencies to effectively implement the results of the visit.
The Ambassador thanked and highly appreciated the attention and direction of the National Assembly Chairman with the orientations to promote bilateral relations, especially strengthening high-level and all-level delegation exchanges, promoting trade, investment, science and technology, innovation and digital transformation cooperation. The Ambassador also emphasized that he will continue to make efforts to act as a bridge to promote cultural, religious, and people-to-people exchanges to strengthen mutual trust and understanding, and said that the Indian side is studying a plan to continue processing Buddha's relics to Vietnam for religious worship in the near future.
The Ambassador affirmed that parliamentary cooperation and people-to-people exchanges are important pillars of the two countries' relations; conveyed the greetings and best wishes of the Speaker of the Indian Senate and Speaker of the House of Representatives to Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man and handed over a letter from Speaker of the House of Representatives Om Birla inviting the Speaker of the National Assembly to visit India. Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man happily accepted the invitation and said that he would arrange to carry out the visit at an appropriate time.
