The People's Committee of Bac Lieu province officially submitted a plan to reorganize the apparatus of specialized agencies under the Provincial People's Committee to the Provincial Steering Committee to summarize the implementation of Resolution 18 of the 12th Party Central Committee.
Currently, Bac Lieu has 18 specialized agencies under the Provincial People's Committee. According to the plan, after the reorganization, the province will have 13 specialized agencies under the Provincial People's Committee; there will be 114 focal points within the 13 agencies, a decrease of 18 focal points compared to before the reorganization.
Accordingly, the Department of Planning and Investment and the Department of Finance will be merged to form the Department of Economics and Finance; the Department of Transport and the Department of Construction will be merged, the new name after the merger will be the Department of Construction and Transport; the Department of Natural Resources and Environment and the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development will be merged to form the Department of Agriculture and Environment; the Department of Information and Communications and the Department of Science and Technology will be merged, the new name after the merger will be the Department of Science, Technology and Communications; the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs and the Department of Home Affairs will be merged to form the Department of Home Affairs and Labor.
The Party Executive Committee of the Provincial People's Committee also proposed that the Department of Health, the Department of Education and Training, and the Provincial Committee for Ethnic Minorities and Religions receive the functions, tasks, organization, units, payroll, and personnel of the Department of Labor, War Invalids, and Social Affairs; the Department of Industry and Trade receive the original status of the Local Market Management Department from the Ministry of Industry and Trade and establish a Market Management Sub-Department under the Department of Industry and Trade.
Along with the plan to arrange professional agencies under the Provincial People's Committee, the Party Committee of the Provincial People's Committee also orients the plan to arrange professional agencies at the district level.
Notably, according to this plan, some new departments after the merger will have up to 2 Directors and 6 Deputy Directors such as the Department of Agriculture and Environment; Department of Construction and Transport.
