The whole country has 733 press agencies, a decrease of 189 agencies compared to the time before the arrangement
This afternoon (June 14), at the National Assembly House, Politburo Member, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung and Politburo Member, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man met with leaders of press agencies and full-time reporters of Party and State leaders, on the occasion of the 101st anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2026).
Also attending the meeting were Politburo members: Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission Trinh Van Quyet; Standing Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Do Van Chien; Standing Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc. Also attending were Secretaries of the Party Central Committee: Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan; Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra.

At the meeting, giving a summary report on press activities, Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Lam Thi Phuong Thanh said that along with the entire political system, the press is also seriously implementing the arrangement of the organizational structure to ensure streamlining, effective and efficient operation.
To date, the whole country has 733 press agencies, including 98 newspapers, 597 magazines and 38 radio and television stations and agencies operating; a decrease of 189 press agencies compared to the time before the arrangement.
Provincial and city radio and television stations are merged and consolidated with local Party newspapers, becoming a press agency under the provincial and city Party committees. Press agencies under socio-political organizations, mass organizations assigned tasks by the Party and State; magazines under social organizations, socio-professional organizations are arranged according to the conclusions of the Politburo and the Secretariat.
According to Minister Lam Thi Phuong Thanh, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism is urgently completing the advice on building a Strategy for development and management of the press system to 2030, with a vision to 2045, to submit to the Government. This is an important task to create a development space and promote the healthy development of the press nationwide.

Minister Lam Thi Phuong Thanh said that the country is entering a new stage of development with many intertwined opportunities and challenges. The strategic tasks and goals that the entire Party, the entire people, the entire army and the entire political system are determined to implement in order to build a fast and sustainable country are also the responsibility and focus of propaganda of press agencies.
Not only is it an information and propaganda force, the press is also a pioneer force on the ideological and cultural front; contributing to creating social consensus, arousing the aspiration to develop a rich, prosperous, civilized, and happy country.
Continue to pay attention to the team of journalists in the process of arranging and streamlining the organizational structure.
Also according to Minister Lam Thi Phuong Thanh, in the context of digital technology, artificial intelligence and social network platforms developing strongly, the requirements for accuracy and truthfulness of information are increasing, requiring the press to continue to affirm its role as an official and reliable information channel for readers.
Therefore, the press needs to continue to promote the application of science and technology, digital transformation; improve information quality; improve the quality of human resources in terms of expertise, professional skills, political bravery and professional ethics.
The press needs to proactively detect and effectively fight against wrong and hostile views, fake news, and toxic bad news; protect the Party's ideological foundation; fight against corruption, wastefulness, and negativity; actively participate in building a clean and strong Party and political system.
On this occasion, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has requested the Government to pay attention to considering specific mechanisms and policies for the press such as policies on assigning tasks and ordering; creating conditions for press agencies to improve their autonomy capacity and improve content quality.
In addition, we really hope that the Party and State will continue to pay attention to the team of journalists in the process of arranging and streamlining the organizational structure; have appropriate support solutions to stabilize life, retain high-quality human resources and create motivation for journalists to feel secure in their work, stick with the profession and contribute long-term" - Minister Lam Thi Phuong Thanh said.
