Close bridge between elected bodies and voters and the People
On June 27, the Forum "Press and Parliament: A constructive flow in the new era" took place in Hanoi.

Over 101 years, Vietnamese revolutionary journalism has always accompanied the nation, making many important contributions to the cause of building and protecting the Fatherland. Our Party and State always pay special attention, affirming that Vietnamese revolutionary journalism is a pioneering force on the Party's ideological and cultural front.
National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man spent a lot of time meeting with press agencies and generations of journalists. Comrade has repeatedly spoken and emphasized that in the activities of the National Assembly, the press is increasingly affirming its role as a close bridge between the elected body and voters and the People" - Chairman Nguyen Dac Vinh emphasized.
Mr. Nguyen Dac Vinh affirmed that the press is a very important information channel, fully and promptly conveying the activities of the National Assembly to voters and people nationwide.
Thereby, helping people closely monitor and understand the activities of the National Assembly; contributing to raising people's awareness and support for the National Assembly's policies; bringing laws, ordinances, and resolutions of the National Assembly and the National Assembly Standing Committee into life soon.
The press is also an important bridge between the National Assembly and voters and the People; promptly reflecting thoughts, aspirations, and practical issues of social life, thereby helping National Assembly deputies have more multi-dimensional information to perform well their legislative functions, supervise and decide on important issues of the country.
Together to create dialogue spaces
Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper Le Quoc Minh affirmed that the Forum not only creates a meaningful professional event but also shows the spirit of jointly creating dialogue spaces between the National Assembly, the press and the young generation.
According to Mr. Le Quoc Minh, the purpose of choosing the theme of the Forum "Press and Parliament: The constructive flow in the new era" is to emphasize two key keywords: "Flow" and "Creation".
He explained that the keyword "flow" shows that there has never been a separate boundary between the parliament and the press. The parliament cannot be separated from social life and the press cannot stand outside the important issues of the country.
The contents discussed in the hall will directly impact the lives of millions of people; the press is the bridge to bring those policies to the public, and at the same time reflect the thoughts, aspirations and expectations of the people back to the elected body. This is a two-way flow of information, carrying responsibility and social trust.
Regarding the keyword "Creating", for many years, journalism has often been mentioned with the function of information, propaganda and social criticism. However, in the current period, journalism needs to be viewed on a broader scale. That is to participate in the process of creating awareness, creating consensus, creating trust and contributing to building a favorable social environment for policies to come into life.
Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association Le Quoc Minh said that this is a natural intersection between the National Assembly and the press: The National Assembly builds institutions, and the press builds social trust in that institution. If one of these two factors is missing, the country's development process will hardly achieve the desired efficiency.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Hoai Son, a full-time member of the National Assembly's Committee for Culture and Society, shared that parliamentary reporters are increasingly becoming an important subject in the public policy ecosystem. They stand at the intersection between the parliament and society, between the language of law and the language of life, between macroeconomic decisions and specific needs of the people.
That position poses the requirement to develop a team of parliamentary reporters who not only have journalistic skills, but also have policy knowledge, analytical capacity, professional ethics and social responsibility.
