The 14th Party Congress is a political event of particular importance, marking a new stage of national development. In that context, the Vietnamese revolutionary press plays a core role in ideological work, propaganda, orienting public opinion and spreading the aspiration to develop a powerful and prosperous country. How do you assess the role and current situation of the press in performing this mission after the 14th Congress?
- The 14th National Congress has a particularly important position when it opens a new era of the nation - an era of national rise and is conducted in calm, confident, and very broadly democratized conditions.
As an important constituent part of the political system, the press needs to continue to affirm its role in orienting and leading public opinion and protecting the ideological foundation of the Party, while transmitting and spreading positive and humane messages about the goal of national development. Fully recognizing the mission, responsibility and issues posed to the press in the current period is of particular importance, contributing to clarifying the role of the press in accompanying the entire Party and people after the 14th National Congress with high political determination and aspirations for new development.
Proud of the glorious tradition of Vietnamese revolutionary journalism, deeply aware of the responsibilities of journalism in the new revolutionary period, journalism closely follows the spirit of the 14th Party Congress Document "building a professional, humane, and modern press, publishing, and media".
The requirement is that the press not only plays a good role in communication but also becomes a force to build a cultural environment, shape social norms, and spread the core value system of the nation. It is necessary to understand that the press in the digital age is not only a channel of communication but also a key tool to build sustainable social trust and enhance national pride, contributing to the stable and united development of the country in the integrated world.
Sir, to fulfill the mission of spreading the aspiration for a strong, prosperous, and developed Vietnam, how should the press build a mainstream information flow to contribute to spreading positive values and strengthening public trust?
- Reality shows that, to contribute to creating a new development space, creating a creative emulation movement, fighting against barriers, creating a solid foundation to bring the country into a new development era, the press is also striving to transform itself.
In particular, the press needs to build a "mainstream information flow" about national pride, and at the same time strive to transform dry theoretical concepts into inspiring stories that are easy to receive for the public.
The 14th National Congress of the Party opens not only a new term but also the starting point for a historical journey to make Vietnam a developed, high-income country by 2045. The press plays the role of "the decoder" of theory, transforming strategic vision messages into specific action programs. Thereby, helping each citizen understand that "reaching out" is not only the aspiration of the Party but also a breakthrough in thinking, removing bottlenecks in institutions and unlocking all social resources for the country to move forward with the times.
The press needs to coordinate with functional agencies to promptly detect and reflect negative acts, corruption, fraud and false information, thereby protecting the purity of society and strengthening public trust. Create forums and spaces for people to express their views and contribute constructive opinions, helping to raise community awareness and strengthen trust based on listening and understanding each other.

To ignite the spirit of humane journalism, dedication, and service to the Fatherland, what are your expectations for the generation of journalists, especially young journalists, in continuing the mission of building national trust and pride?
- The press is part of the flow of the renovation process that is taking place strongly on the national, sectoral, and local level. It is time for Vietnam not to be slow but to take advantage of every opportunity, release all resources, and break all barriers to rise up.
I always believe that the young generation of journalists is the future of the country's journalism and is also an important part in preserving social trust and nurturing national pride. I hope young journalists always maintain the flame of ideals and the spirit of service: Journalism is not simply a job to earn a living, but a noble profession, associated with deep social responsibility.
I hope that the younger generation will maintain the ideals of truth, fairness, and compassion, not to let themselves be drawn into the vortex - fast news - high views - led by social networks. National belief and pride do not come from sensational news but from the tỉnh táo, tử tế, and full of bravery guidance of the writer.
According to you, why does the press need to promote digital transformation and apply artificial intelligence to professional activities in the current period?
- In the context of strong digital media development, the behavior of receiving information from the public changes rapidly, the press is forced to promote digital transformation and apply artificial intelligence (AI) to adapt and develop sustainably. Digital transformation helps press agencies innovate the production - content distribution process, shorten reporting time, expand the reader access platform and improve editorial management efficiency.
The application of AI brings many practical values, from supporting big data analysis, personalizing content according to reader needs, suggesting topics, to automating some technical stages such as converting voice into text, preliminary editing, checking errors, analyzing public opinion trends. Through this, reporters and editors have more time to focus on core, in-depth, oriented and humane content.
However, AI is only a supporting tool, and cannot replace the role of journalists. Therefore, along with applying technology, journalism needs to focus on improving the political bravery, professional ethics and technology mastery capacity of journalists, ensuring accurate, humane information and serving social interests well.
For example, for many years, Lao Dong Newspaper has always been assessed as one of the pioneering press agencies in the digital transformation process of Vietnamese journalism and continuously maintained high positions in official rankings announced by state management agencies.
In 2024, Lao Dong Newspaper was ranked excellent and led the central press bloc in terms of digital transformation maturity, highlighted by the strong application of new technologies, especially AI, in editorial organization, content production and multi-platform information distribution.
By 2025, the fact that Lao Dong Newspaper continues to be ranked as excellent in terms of the level of maturity of press digital transformation once again affirms the position of the editorial office in the leading group of the Central press system. This shows that the digital transformation process is not timely but is deployed methodically, continuously and in depth.
This result shows the consistent direction of Lao Dong Newspaper in innovating journalistic activities, strengthening the application of technology to improve content quality, expand the ability to reach readers and maintain its role as one of the central newspapers with influence in the digital environment.
Thank you very much, sir!
