On February 2nd, in Hanoi, Politburo Member, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man chaired the February working session of National Assembly leaders to assess the results of work in January, and give opinions on key tasks and priorities in February and the coming time.
Speaking at the meeting, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man stated clearly that February is the "final sprint" stage of many key tasks.
Typical examples include preparing for the election of National Assembly deputies of the 16th term and People's Council deputies at all levels for the 2026-2031 term; preparing for the 1st Session of the 16th National Assembly; preparing for meetings of the National Assembly Standing Committee. At the same time, continue to strongly implement the digital transformation of the National Assembly according to the resolutions and plans issued.
Referring to specific tasks, the National Assembly Chairman requested to closely follow the direction of the Central Government, the Politburo and the General Secretary to develop the legislative program and the full-term supervision program of the 16th National Assembly.
Regarding the preparation for the 1st Session of the 16th National Assembly, the National Assembly Chairman emphasized that this is the number one task in terms of progress. The National Assembly Office presides over advising on completing the draft program, list of documents, and assurance work to serve the session.
At the same time, coordinate with the Office of the National Assembly Party Committee to advise on meetings between the National Assembly Party Committee and the Government Party Committee to unify major contents.
National Assembly agencies proactively verify, coordinate to receive and revise; reports on socio-economics, finance, state budget, thrift and anti-waste, and special mechanisms.
Regarding election work, the National Assembly Chairwoman clearly stated the spirit of accelerating but absolutely not being subjective. Organizing the supervision and inspection of the second phase of the election must be substantive; fully summarize to report to the Politburo, the Secretariat and the National Election Council.
The National Assembly Chairwoman requested to strengthen support for localities in professional negotiation, voter contact, and training candidates; promptly receive and handle complaints and denunciations related to elections; study and fully implement regimes and policies for full-time National Assembly deputies of the XV term who are not re-elected and train skills for first-time candidates.
Elections are an important political task, requiring implementation in accordance with the law, in accordance with procedures, on time, and with the right people" - National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man emphasized.
Also according to the National Assembly Chairwoman, digital transformation does not stop at the learning movement but must create substantive changes in the working process: reducing processing time for dossiers, improving the quality of advice, making progress transparent, ensuring data security and forming digital work habits throughout the system.
Regarding the organization of Binh Ngo Tet 2026, the National Assembly Chairman requested to properly implement Directive No. 55 of the Secretariat, in a thoughtful, practical, and non-formal direction.
According to the National Assembly Chairwoman, visits and gifts must be given to the right people; take care of Tet for officials, civil servants, and employees; develop a Tet duty plan, ensure smooth operation of the agency; organize effective early spring meetings and quickly start work immediately.
Clearly stating to tighten discipline and order, overcome the situation of avoidance and shirking responsibility, the National Assembly Chairwoman requested to continue to strictly implement the Central Committee's conclusions on rectifying practices and improving operational efficiency; strengthen inspection and supervision of task performance; and promote the responsibility of heads.
The National Assembly Office and advisory agencies must promote the role of "reminding work according to milestones", "removing obstacles according to work", "reporting according to plans", contributing to improving the quality and efficiency of the National Assembly's activities in the new term.
