On the morning of August 25, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs solemnly held a ceremony to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnamese diplomatic sector (August 28, 1945 - August 28, 2025) and received the First Class Labor Medal.
At the ceremony, General Secretary To Lam presented the First Class Labor Medal to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The decision to award the First Class Labor Medal to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was signed by Politburo member and President Luong Cuong, emphasizing that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was awarded a medal for its outstanding and outstanding achievements in advising and implementing the foreign affairs activities of the Party and State contributing to the cause of building socialism and defending the Fatherland from 2023 to 2025.
Previously, speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son said: "The assignment of the past 80 years is the journey of courage, intelligence and iron loyalty to the Party, the Fatherland and the people; are the tense negotiations in the smoke of war; are the brave steps to break the situation of surrounding, isolating, and expanding the door to integration; are the highest efforts to protect the legitimate interests of the nation - people; are the right presence at the right time and place in each important historical moment".
The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister shared that entering the period of Innovation, diplomacy continues to pioneer in paving the way, contributing to bringing the country out of the situation of encroachment and embargo, normalizing relations with other countries, expanding the foreign situation through the foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization, and diversification, helping to affirm Vietnam's position in the international arena.
From a poor, backward country devastated by war, Vietnam has now become a dynamically developed country with comprehensive and extensive international integration.
From a country that is still on the sidelines of global flows, we have grown strongly, becoming a trusted partner, an active and responsible member in the international community.
Having been tested and honed in practice at times when the country had to change its face with thousands of difficulties, the past 80 years have witnessed the maturity and outstanding efforts of the Vietnamese revolutionary diplomacy.
The diplomatic sector has made many historic achievements, contributing to the cause of building and defending the fatherland. Thanks to that, the diplomatic sector was honored to receive the Gold Star Medal from the State twice, the Ho Chi Minh Medal once and many other noble medals and titles.
"80 years are not just numbers, but many lives of dedication, the mark of thousands of diplomatic staff, from the elderly to the young today; many of whom have accepted difficulties and challenges, having to be away from their homeland and family, to protect the national interests - ethnicity, image and prestige of Vietnam" - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Bui Thanh Son said.
