According to the submission sent to the Government, the Ministry of Home Affairs proposed to take Vietnam Culture Day off on Tuesday, November 24, and at the same time, swap the working day of Monday, November 23 to the weekly holiday of Saturday, November 28.
Accordingly, this holiday includes 4 consecutive days, from Saturday, November 21 to the end of Tuesday, November 24 (including 1 Vietnamese Culture Day, 1 swap day and 2 weekly holidays).
This retirement plan applies to cadres, civil servants, public employees and employees of state administrative agencies and public non-business units.
Regarding the reasons for the proposal, the Ministry of Home Affairs stated that 2026 is the first year to organize the Vietnam Culture Day. Therefore, arranging continuous holidays is important in creating a social spillover effect, raising awareness, and encouraging people to participate in cultural, family, community activities and response events in the locality.
November 24 falls on Tuesday, so swapping Monday, November 23 to Saturday, November 28 to form a continuous holiday is suitable for the actual conditions.
This plan contributes to the correct implementation of the policy and spirit of Resolution No. 80-NQ/TW dated January 7, 2026 of the Politburo on the development of Vietnamese culture, which sets out the requirement to improve the people's ability to enjoy culture, ensure full rights to enjoy and create culture, and equal access to culture.
At the same time, this facilitates the organization of cultural, tourism, service, and cultural consumption activities to be more large-scale and effective.
According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, this holiday contributes to promoting Vietnamese cultural values, promoting the development of cultural, tourism and service industries, ensuring harmony between the requirements of organizing a new holiday with important political and cultural significance, the need to participate in cultural activities of people and the requirement to maintain stable production and business activities, and socio-economic development.
