On February 28, the Traffic Police Department (CSGT), Ministry of Public Security informed about 2 months of implementing Decree 168/2024/ND-CP (from January 1, 2025 to February 28, 2025).
Accordingly, from January 1, 2025 to February 28, 2025, the national traffic police force detected and handled 504,514 cases of traffic safety violations; revoked the right to use driving licenses (GPLX) and professional certificates in 38,757 cases;
48,693 driving licenses were deducted points; 146,493 vehicles (2,507 cars, 138,933 motorbikes, 5,053 other vehicles were temporarily detained); compared to the same period, the fines have decreased in 192,221 cases.
In which: Handling 105,887 cases of alcohol concentration violations, down 89,804 cases; speeding violations 120,394 cases, down 44,542 cases; drivers on the road with drugs in their bodies 800 cases, down 263 cases;
Failure to comply with traffic light signals in 6,969 cases, down 1,433 cases; Failure to comply with traffic controller signals in 428 cases; 46,683 cases of helmet violations; 259 cases of vehicles that have expired or have expired for inspection;....
Regarding the traffic accident situation, there are clear changes, reducing all 3 criteria compared to the same period last year and the previous period.
There were 2,895 road traffic accidents nationwide, killing 1,582 people and injuring 2,003 people; compared to the same period in 2023, there were 1,443 fewer cases, 244 fewer deaths, and 1,457 fewer injuries; compared to the previous period, there were 937 fewer cases, 416 fewer deaths, and 616 fewer injuries.
"Analysis data can show that people's awareness of complying with the law on traffic safety and order has been significantly raised, the image of running red lights is no longer the same as before but instead the image of "right as a line" in front of red lights has become a familiar image on traffic routes" - A representative of the Traffic Police Department informed.
In the coming time, the Traffic Police will increase patrols, control and strictly handle 6 groups of behaviors that are the main causes of traffic accidents; handle violations according to the motto "no forbidden areas, no exceptions".
Thereby, creating and forming a culture of "civilized", "centric" and "safe" traffic participation; operating, exploiting, and controlling traffic lights to serve the work of ensuring traffic order and safety, preventing and resolving traffic congestion; managing the testing, issuance, and exchange of driving licenses for people quickly from the grassroots level.
