On the afternoon of April 7, continuing the first session, the 16th National Assembly passed a Resolution to elect the Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court (SPC) for the term 2026-2031 for Mr. Nguyen Van Quang - Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chief Justice of the SPC for the term 2021-2026.
Immediately after that, the Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court performed the oath-taking ceremony.
Under the sacred red flag with a yellow star of the Fatherland, before the National Assembly, compatriots and voters nationwide, I - Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam take the oath: Absolutely loyal to the Fatherland, to the people, to the Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; strive to successfully complete the tasks assigned by the Party, State and people" - Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court Nguyen Van Quang took the oath.

Immediately after the oath-taking ceremony and inauguration speech, Mr. Nguyen Van Quang expressed his gratitude to the Party Central Committee, the Politburo, the Secretariat, General Secretary, President To Lam and the National Assembly, along with voters and people for continuing to trust and entrust him with the responsibility of being a National Assembly Deputy of the 16th term and Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court.
Deeply aware that this is a great honor and responsibility, he said that in recent years, especially during the 15th National Assembly term, under the direct and comprehensive leadership of the Party, the close supervision of the National Assembly, the close coordination of judicial agencies, ministries, departments, branches, localities, and the trust and support of the people, the Court sector has made many efforts, innovated, implemented many synchronous and drastic solutions and successfully completed tasks according to the provisions of the Constitution.
Thereby contributing to protecting justice, protecting human rights, citizen rights, protecting the socialist regime, protecting the interests of the State, and the legitimate rights and interests of organizations and individuals.
Entering the new term, in his position as head of the adjudicating agency, exercising judicial power according to the provisions of the Constitution, Chief Justice Nguyen Van Quang promised to continue to work with the Party Committee collective, leaders of the Supreme People's Court, and the Council of Judges of the Supreme People's Court to unite, unify, be determined, and drastic in action, maintain discipline and order, and constantly innovate in implementing the guidelines and policies on judicial reform and building a socialist rule-of-law state as identified in the Resolution of the 14th Party Congress.
In which, he emphasized 3 key tasks.
First of all, focus on building and perfecting institutions, promoting the role of the Court in creating and developing.
Proactively summarize the practice of adjudication, detect inadequacies, overlaps, and contradictions in legal regulations to promptly propose amendments and improvements, contributing to building a synchronous, unified, and feasible legal system to unlock resources and remove bottlenecks to serve national development in the new period.
Second, continue to strongly innovate adjudication activities, taking quality, fairness, strictness and humanity as a consistent foundation. Ensure uniform application of the law, resolutely prevent wrongful convictions and letting criminals escape.
Promote comprehensive digital transformation, cut down on judicial administrative procedures, towards building a modern, transparent, professional, and better serving people electronic courts.
Third, focus on doing well Party building work associated with industry building work. Arrange a streamlined organizational structure, operating effectively and efficiently, in accordance with the three-level Court model.
Strengthen discipline and order, build a contingent of cadres and judges with firm political bravery, professionalism, and integrity to lay a solid foundation for improving the quality and efficiency of adjudication activities of Courts at all levels, and successfully complete the targets and requirements set by the National Assembly.
Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court Nguyen Van Quang also wished to continue to receive the attention, leadership and direction of the Central Executive Committee, the Politburo, the Secretariat, of General Secretary, President To Lam and Party and State leaders, the Vietnam Fatherland Front; the support, creation of conditions and strengthened supervision of the people, the National Assembly, and National Assembly and People's Council deputies at all levels for the activities of the Court sector.
