On January 16, Politburo Member, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired a conference to summarize the "Quang Trung Campaign" to quickly rebuild and repair houses for households whose houses were damaged by natural disasters, storms, and floods in the Central region.
Speaking at the conference, General Phan Van Giang - Member of the Politburo, Minister of National Defense - said that in overcoming the consequences of natural disasters, we have used all forces, many types of vehicles.
Perhaps it is the first time we have used UAVs and unmanned aerial vehicles to overcome the consequences and bring relief goods to areas that are divided," General Phan Van Giang said.
Sharing about the process of deploying the Army's Campaign, General Phan Van Giang said that when he received instructions from the Prime Minister, he requested to complete it before January 12.
In addition to repairing according to targets, according to assigned tasks, for example, building more than 600 new houses, repairing nearly 400 houses, we also do many other things. All participating forces do other things, not just the things assigned by the Prime Minister. For example, cleaning roads, gardens, villages, and hamlets, no one assigns them, but they still do it, do their best," General Phan Van Giang said.
The Minister also said that many officers also participated in building and repairing houses for people. In these images (video clips presented at the Conference), many senior officers, senior colonels, colonels and then Political Commissars of Military Region 5 also participated in construction.
Through this, General Phan Van Giang also pointed out specific lessons learned.
After building the house, the Prime Minister discussed with me that there must be TVs for people to watch current affairs, especially to follow information about the 14th Party Congress. We have also determined that in addition to TVs, there are also refrigerators, pots, pans, bowls and clothes for people. Our army also built and sewed civilian clothes to supply to localities. If calculated, it is nearly 1,000 tons of dry food supplied during the recent floods to help people. Thus, this is both an effort and an initiative, the initiative of leaders and commanders at all levels," said General Phan Van Giang.
Speaking at the conference, Deputy Minister of Public Security Dang Hong Duc said that on December 10, the Ministry of Public Security organized a summary of the Quang Trung campaign in Da Nang city, a commune most heavily affected by Da Nang city.
Previously, after receiving instructions from Party and State leaders and orders from the Minister of Public Security, the entire People's Police force in affected areas deployed simultaneously, no comrades refused their duties, no comrades complained of hardships and difficulties. All set off immediately after receiving orders from the Minister.
Regarding the direction in the coming time, the Deputy Minister requested the police forces of localities to continue to support creating sustainable livelihoods for people, completing administrative procedures, papers, and land use right certificates for people after settling down.
Continue to implement the direction of the General Secretary and the Prime Minister on assisting social security work, especially supporting vulnerable people, people in difficult circumstances, people without shelter; participate in building schools and health stations in particularly difficult areas, remote areas, border areas and islands.
