On March 3, Dak Nong Provincial People's Committee and the Academy of Politics (Ministry of National Defense) organized a scientific seminar "Duc Lap Victory - Half a century looking back".
According to the Dak Nong Provincial People's Committee, Duc Lap District (old Quang Duc Province, now Dak Mil District, Dak Nong Province) has an important strategic position in terms of both military, economy and politics.
On March 10, 1975, the liberation army completely dominated the Dak Song and Dak Dak Dak bases. Seizing the opportunity, the working groups launched a mass mobilization from Duc Lap to Dak Dak Dak, Dak Song to rise up to take power, liberate Duc Lap district and surrounding areas.
The presentations at the workshop all emphasized that the German victory was of great significance, the opening victory of the Central Highlands campaign, contributing to the completion of the early addition of forces to Buon Ma Thuot.
Thereby, ensuring the smooth Ho Chi Minh route on the Southern Central Highlands battlefield for our army to travel to the South, ensuring the highest secret and results for the decisive battle to liberate Buon Ma Thuot on March 10, 1975, opening the historic Ho Chi Minh campaign.
Major General Hoang Van Phai, - Deputy Director of the Academy of Politics - said: "Without a successful Central Highlands campaign, there would not be a strategic offensive to liberate Hue and Da Nang and especially the general offensive and rebellion in the spring of 1975".

According to Colonel Nguyen Van Su ( Academy of Politics), the victory of Duc Lap is the result of many factors. In particular, it is impossible not to mention the very important role of the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defense, and the Central Highlands Campaign Command in directing and operating the battle.
That is starting from the correct determination of the location and role of the German base in the advance battle to liberate Buon Ma Thuot, to the role of the Central Highlands Campaign Command in field reconnaissance, building fighting determination.
Many opinions at the workshop said that even though 50 years have passed, the German victory still retains its value, leaving many valuable lessons in the cause of defending the Fatherland.
The victory of Duc Lap will forever be a source of great pride and motivation for the Dak Nong Provincial Party Committee, government and people to always be united, united, determined to overcome difficulties and challenges to build an increasingly developed and prosperous province.
