On the afternoon of February 4, at the Government Headquarters, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired the regular Government meeting in January 2026, online with localities, discussing the socio-economic situation in January 2026 and the key directions for the coming time.
Speaking at the meeting, the Prime Minister stated clearly that the meeting was organized with the spirit of continuing to deploy work from the first day, first week, first month of 2026 and the 2026-2030 term; inheriting and promoting the results and foundations achieved in 2025 and the past term.
With the action spirit of the 14th Congress, the right guidelines must be implemented quickly, done to the end, taking the efficiency and satisfaction of the people as a measure.
Suggesting some key discussion contents, the Prime Minister requested delegates to assess the situation in January, especially new and noteworthy features, emerging issues; outstanding results achieved, and lessons learned.
Along with that are tasks and solutions to continue to maintain macroeconomic stability, control inflation, ensure major balances of the economy, including the balance of food - foodstuffs, energy and complete the double-digit growth target with the spirit of effort from the first day, first month, first quarter.
Assessing the work of ensuring social security, social order and safety, ensuring security, safety, and people's safety, preparing and caring for people to celebrate Spring and welcome Binh Ngo Tet; along with promoting production and business, it is necessary to control smuggling, counterfeit goods, fake goods, and ensure food safety.

According to the report at the meeting, in January 2026, the world situation continued to develop very quickly, complicatedly, and unpredictably as geopolitical tensions and conflicts escalated in many places; the trend of separation, fragmentation, multipolarization, and multi-centerization became increasingly clear; trade tensions and prolonged instability.
Economic growth slows down, risks increase, public debt in many countries is high, gold prices increase and fluctuate strongly.
Domestically, the socio-economic situation in January continued the positive trend, achieving important results in many fields.
Notably, the macroeconomy is basically stable, inflation is controlled, growth is promoted, and major balances of the economy are ensured.
Cultural and social fields are emphasized; people's lives continue to improve; actively prepare people to celebrate Spring and celebrate Tet with the spirit of not letting anyone be without Tet.
Besides the basically achieved results, our country still has limitations and inadequacies and continues to face many difficulties and challenges. Examples include macroeconomic management pressure, inflation, exchange rates, and interest rates that are still high due to negative external impacts.
Production and business in some fields are still difficult; administrative procedures are still cumbersome; the spirit, attitude, and quality of work of a part of cadres and civil servants have not yet met the requirements...
According to the program, at the meeting, the Government will assess the socio-economic situation in January 2026; the situation of allocation and disbursement of public investment capital; the situation of implementing 3 national target programs; the direction and administration of the Government, the Prime Minister, and the results of task implementation assigned in January 2026.
The Government also considered a number of tasks that need to be focused on directing in February and the coming time; in particular, listening to reports on the implementation situation, removing difficulties and obstacles in the implementation of Decree No. 46/2026/ND-CP (detailing the implementation of a number of articles and measures to organize and guide the implementation of the Law on Food Safety) and handling solutions.
