Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Manh Cuong said that the implementation of the Party's foreign policy at the XIV Congress requires proactiveness, synchronization and decisiveness to soon transform strategic orientations into specific results.
The Party Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs clearly grasped the spirit that General Secretary To Lam directed, which is the determination to act quickly and drastically right from the beginning of the term "not to let a day be wasted, a week delayed".
With that awareness, the Party Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs soon proactively developed an Action Program in the direction of integrating "3 in 1" to synchronously and effectively implement the Resolution of the 14th Party Congress, the Resolution of the 1st Party Congress of the Government and the 1st Party Congress of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The action program includes main contents of groups of tasks on bilateral diplomacy, multilateral diplomacy, economic diplomacy for development, border and territorial work, cultural diplomacy, work on Vietnamese people abroad, citizen protection, foreign information, research, forecasting, strategic advice, Party building work, building the diplomatic sector... in which clearly identify key and breakthrough tasks.
In just 2 weeks after the 14th Party Congress, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs deployed a series of foreign affairs activities of Party and State leaders with many friends and partners, including a phone call between General Secretary To Lam and General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin, South Korean President Lee Jae Myung, Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong; State visit to Laos and Cambodia by General Secretary To Lam; visit to China by Politburo member and Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung as Special Envoy of the General Secretary.
Talking to the press, Deputy Minister Nguyen Manh Cuong also emphasized the important new features of the Party's Foreign Policy of the XIV Congress. The Congress emphasized the goal of "developing foreign affairs in the new era commensurate with the historical, cultural and position of the country".
Our Party adds the viewpoint of "strategic autonomy", "self-reliance". This is a general guiding viewpoint and very important for foreign affairs. "Strategic autonomy," "self-reliance" is a prerequisite to maintain proactiveness and independence in foreign affairs, firmly ensuring national and ethnic interests in a volatile world.
The 14th Party Congress affirmed that promoting foreign affairs and international integration, along with strengthening national defense and security, is a "key and regular" task.

Accordingly, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has identified the key tasks of foreign affairs in the new era.
First of all, unify the awareness in the entire political system about the "important and regular" role of foreign affairs; promote propaganda from the Central to local levels, representative agencies abroad and the Vietnamese community abroad, thereby promoting the strength of great national unity.
Another important task is to build a comprehensive foreign policy strategy at a new height, promoting the combined strength of Party foreign affairs, State diplomacy and people-to-people diplomacy.
