Chairman of the Ethnic Committee attended the Congress of Ethnic Minorities of Yen Bai province

On November 14, the 4th Congress of Ethnic Minorities (EM) of Yen Bai province in 2024 took place with the participation of 220 delegates.

Attending the Congress were Minister, Chairman of the Ethnic Committee Hau A Lenh; Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Yen Bai Provincial People's Committee Tran Huy Tuan; Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Ta Van Long; representatives of the Ethnic Committees of the provinces: Lao Cai, Tuyen Quang, Phu Tho, Vinh Phuc and 220 delegates representing ethnic minorities of Yen Bai province.

Speaking at the congress, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Huy Tuan said: "With the overarching and consistent goal of building Yen Bai province to develop rapidly and sustainably in the direction of "Green, harmonious, unique and happy", ethnic work is a fundamental, long-term, urgent strategic issue, a task of the entire political system and all classes of people".

The role of ethnic minorities is an important, regular, continuous task of great significance, not only a responsibility but also the sentiment and aspiration of the Party Committee, government and people of all walks of life.

Therefore, all levels, sectors and localities need to continue to thoroughly grasp and effectively implement the Party's guidelines, policies and resolutions, the State's policies and laws on ethnic affairs. On that basis, concretize and integrate them into programs and action plans to raise awareness and responsibility for ethnic affairs, especially in ethnic minority areas in the new situation.

Speaking at the Congress, Minister and Chairman of the Ethnic Minorities Committee Hau A Lenh affirmed: The achievements of Yen Bai province in implementing the Resolution of the 3rd Congress of Ethnic Minorities are very proud, the political determination and strong leadership of the Party Committees, authorities at all levels and the efforts, overcoming difficulties and rising up of the people of all ethnic groups in Yen Bai province, including ethnic minorities.

Minister Hau A Lenh suggested that in the coming time, Party committees and authorities at all levels need to effectively implement three national target programs; build and consolidate the grassroots political system in ethnic minority and mountainous areas, especially in remote and extremely disadvantaged communes.

Combine socio-economic development with ensuring national defense and security, especially in key areas, remote and isolated areas; proactively build a national defense posture, a people's security posture, associated with a solid people's hearts posture.

It is known that since the beginning of the term, Yen Bai has focused on allocating more than 32,000 billion VND to invest in socio-economic development in mountainous and ethnic minority areas.

The rate of households using the national grid and suitable power sources reached 97.6%; the rate of ethnic minorities using clean water for daily use reached 96%.

From 2019 to present, Yen Bai has supported the construction of 8,617 houses for people with meritorious services, poor households, near-poor households, and those affected by natural disasters. The poverty rate by the end of 2023 will be 9.16%.

At the congress, the Ethnic Committee awarded the "For the cause of ethnic development" medal and Certificates of Merit to collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in implementing ethnic work and ethnic policies.
