VNA reported that at 7:15 p.m. on September 21 local time (morning of September 22 Vietnam time), the plane carrying Politburo member and President Luong Cuong and his wife, along with the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, arrived at J.F Kennedy International Airport, New York City, USA, to attend the High-level General Discussion Session of the 80th United Nations General Assembly, combined with bilateral activities in the US.
Welcoming the President and his wife and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation at J.F Kennedy International Airport were Vietnamese Ambassador to the US Nguyen Quoc Dung; Ambassador and Head of the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the United Nations Do Hung Viet and staff of the Embassy and the Delegation.
After nearly 50 years, the Vietnam - United Nations relationship continues to develop positively, increasingly in-depth, constantly being consolidated and strengthened.
Participating in the United Nations, Vietnam has also made deep marks as an increasingly proactive and active member, contributing more and more substantially and extensively in terms of ideas, people, and resources in all areas of the United Nations' pillar activities on peacekeeping, security, and development cooperation.

President Luong Cuong's attendance at the High-level General Assembly of the 80th United Nations General Assembly continues to affirm Vietnam's contributions to the world's largest multilateral organization, while also demonstrating Vietnam's proactiveness and positivity in participating in solving regional and world issues.
According to the schedule, the President will attend a high-level session to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations, with important speeches at the High-level General Assembly Discussion Session of the 80th United Nations General Assembly and the Special Global High-Level event on Climate Action, thereby conveying the message of affirming Vietnam's role as a responsible member of the United Nations, proactively participating and making positive and substantial contributions to the activities and major priorities of the United Nations and the international community.
During the working trip, the President will have meetings with US leaders, receive businesses, financial institutions, long-time friends and partners, top scholars, attend meetings between Vietnamese - US veterans, meet with officials and staff of Vietnamese representative agencies and representatives of the typical Vietnamese community.
The President also chaired the 80th Anniversary of Vietnam's National Day in New York to affirm the policy of attaching more importance to developing relations with the US, especially in the fields of economy, trade, investment, science and technology; promoting the implementation of agreements and commitments between the two countries' senior leaders; mobilizing the support of all classes for Vietnam and the Vietnam - US relationship, demonstrating the Party and State's concern for the Vietnamese community in the US.
