On November 15, local time, on the sidelines of the APEC Summit in Lima, Peru, President Luong Cuong met with General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping, US President Joe Biden, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at a meeting with General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping, President Luong Cuong affirmed that Vietnam considers developing cooperative and friendly relations with China a strategic choice and top priority in Vietnam's foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, diversification and multilateralization.
General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping congratulated Comrade Liang Qiang on being elected President by the Vietnamese National Assembly; affirmed that China always considers relations with Vietnam a priority in its neighborly foreign policy; supported Vietnam in successfully organizing the 14th National Party Congress and respectfully invited the President to visit China at an appropriate time.
The two sides expressed their joy and appreciation for the positive developments in the relationship between the two Parties and countries in recent times, especially after the very successful visits of General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping to Vietnam in December 2023 and General Secretary and President To Lam to China in August 2024.
In his meeting with US President Joe Biden, President Luong Cuong affirmed that Vietnam considers the US a partner of strategic importance and was pleased that the two sides have achieved many positive results after one year of implementing the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership framework. The President highly appreciated President Biden's leadership role and contributions to the development of Vietnam-US relations in recent years.
President Joe Biden expressed his pleasure to meet President Luong Cuong, congratulated the President on his new position, and affirmed that the US values its relationship with Vietnam and supports a "strong, independent, self-reliant, and prosperous" Vietnam.
In an exchange with the Malaysian Prime Minister, President Luong Cuong emphasized that Vietnam always values and wishes to further develop the friendship and strategic partnership between Vietnam and Malaysia.
Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim affirmed that Vietnam is a very important partner of Malaysia in the region, suggesting that the two sides continue to strengthen and bring the relationship to new heights through expanding and deepening areas of cooperation.
With the Singaporean Prime Minister, President Luong Cuong suggested that the two sides continue to promote cooperation mechanisms in the fields of politics - diplomacy, economics - trade, defense - security, culture - education, science - technology, and people-to-people exchange.
Prime Minister Lawrence Wong affirmed that Vietnam is a major partner of Singapore in ASEAN, and agreed with President Luong Cuong on promoting cooperation between the two countries in areas of strategic significance to bilateral relations.
At the meeting with the Australian Prime Minister, President Luong Cuong suggested that the two sides continue to closely coordinate to effectively implement the Action Program of the Vietnam - Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for the 2024-2027 period.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese reaffirmed that Australia attaches great importance to the role and position of Vietnam. Prime Minister Albanese respectfully invited President Luong Cuong to visit Australia at an appropriate time.
Talking with the Canadian Prime Minister, the two leaders recognized the strong development of Vietnam - Canada relations, and emphasized their determination to continue to deepen cooperation on the basis of mutual respect and mutual benefit.
Prime Minister Trudeau said many delegations of high-ranking Canadian officials and businesses have come to Vietnam to explore opportunities for economic, trade, and investment cooperation as well as in new areas, innovation, digital transformation, green transformation, etc.
At the meeting, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchukn said that Russia prioritizes developing relations with Vietnam in an increasingly practical and effective manner in the spirit of traditional friendship and commensurate with the potential of the two countries. President Luong Cuong affirmed that he always attaches importance to the comprehensive strategic partnership with the Russian Federation.
