President receives US-APEC Business Alliance

President Luong Cuong stated that Vietnam welcomes US companies to invest in the fields of artificial intelligence; big data; and biotechnology.

On the afternoon of November 14 local time, in the capital Lima (Peru), on the occasion of attending the APEC Summit Week, President Luong Cuong had a meeting with the US-APEC Business Alliance delegation.

According to VNA, speaking at the reception, President Luong Cuong emphasized that this event with the participation of representatives from the US Chamber of Commerce, the US-ASEAN Business Council, and senior leaders of more than 10 leading US enterprises demonstrated the interest of US investors in Vietnam.

The President assessed that cooperation between Vietnam and the US has continuously expanded and developed remarkably after nearly three decades of normalizing relations and more than one year of upgrading relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership.

This relationship has continuously developed on the basis of sincerity, trust and responsibility, with sympathy, sharing and mutual respect, meeting the aspirations of the people of the two countries.

Based on the common perception and orientation in the relationship between the two countries, the President said that Vietnam considers the US a partner of strategic importance and believes in the development opportunities of the bilateral Comprehensive Strategic Partnership; thereby realizing the aspirations of the people of the two countries for a bright and dynamic future, contributing to maintaining peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and around the world.

Pointing out that Vietnam is entering a new era with great potential and will continue to carry out important reforms, strengthen international integration and promote sustainable development, the President affirmed that Vietnam is constantly improving its investment and business environment in a clear, transparent, stable and consistent manner, in line with international practices to attract investment, including US businesses, with three main pillars: Deeply reforming and opening up; Protecting business interests; and Developing new economic drivers.

In the context of global economic transformation, technology and sustainable development will be two of the core factors shaping the future of the world economy, the President said, Vietnam wishes to cooperate closely with US and APEC businesses in the fields of high technology and innovation; renewable energy and green development.

The President stated that Vietnam welcomes US companies to invest in the fields of artificial intelligence; big data; biotechnology; establishing research and development centers; and financial technology.

On the other hand, Vietnam aims to achieve net zero emissions by 2050 and currently has policies to encourage and attract investment in the renewable energy sector, including solar energy, wind energy, and energy storage technology.

The President believes that, with the spirit of cooperation and belief in common development potential, the economic relationship between Vietnam and US businesses, as well as the APEC region, will continue to develop strongly.
