President meets with President of the Council of Ministers of Peru

The President of the Council of Ministers of Peru highly appreciated the investment activities of Vietnamese enterprises in Peru.

On the afternoon of November 13 (local time), within the framework of his official visit to the Republic of Peru, President Luong Cuong met with Chairman of the Council of Ministers Gustavo Adriazen.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, President of the Council of Ministers Gustavo Adriazen affirmed that Peru attaches importance to developing friendly relations and all-round cooperation with Vietnam; highly appreciates the achievements Vietnam has made in nearly 40 years of Doi Moi and hopes that the two countries will increase sharing of good experiences in national governance and implementing socio-economic development policies.

President Luong Cuong assessed that the friendship and multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and Peru have made impressive progress in recent times, especially in the fields of trade and investment. Peru is currently Vietnam's number one investment partner and sixth largest trade partner in Latin America, while Vietnam is Peru's largest trade partner in ASEAN.

However, the President affirmed that the Vietnam-Peru relationship still has much room to expand cooperation. Based on the current good political relationship, President Luong Cuong and the President of Peru agreed to adopt a Joint Statement on strengthening bilateral relations between Vietnam and Peru with specific and practical measures to fully exploit the potential for cooperation, aiming to bring the Vietnam-Peru relationship to a new height.

The Chairman of the Peruvian Council of Ministers highly appreciated the investment activities of Vietnamese enterprises in Peru, especially the very successful telecommunications project of the Military Industry-Telecoms Group (Viettel), affirming his support and creating conditions for Viettel to expand cooperation projects on digital transformation, digital technology, smart cities, cyber security, etc., contributing to the development of Peru and bringing long-term benefits to businesses and people of the two countries.

The two leaders agreed that the two countries' membership in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum and the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) is an important basis for enhancing trade and investment cooperation.

Accordingly, the two sides agreed to promote increased contact activities and visits by high-ranking leaders of the two countries and exchanges at all levels, ministries and sectors in the coming years, and committed to regularly and effectively implementing political-diplomatic and economic-trade dialogue mechanisms to make the cooperation between the two countries increasingly substantive and effective.

The two sides agreed to closely coordinate and actively promote cooperation between ASEAN and the Pacific Alliance as well as enhance coordination and mutual support at multilateral forums and international organizations.

The Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Peru and before that, the President and leaders of Peru congratulated Vietnam on being trusted and supported to host APEC Year 2027; affirmed that Peru will support and closely coordinate so that APEC Year 2027 hosted by Vietnam will be a great success.

On this occasion, President Luong Cuong also conveyed to the leaders of the Peruvian Council of Ministers his regards and invitation to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to visit Vietnam at a time suitable for both sides.
