On the afternoon of November 1, local time, in Busan, on the occasion of attending the 32nd APEC Summit Week and bilateral activities in Korea, Politburo member and President Luong Cuong met with officials and staff of Vietnamese representative agencies in Korea and the Vietnamese community in southeastern Korea.
According to VNA, speaking at the meeting, President Luong Cuong emphasized that this visit to Korea is of great significance, taking place in the context of the Vietnam - Korea bilateral relationship being in the best development stage after more than 30 years of establishing diplomatic relations and 3 years of upgrading the relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, in which Korea continues to be one of Vietnam's leading important economic partners.
Affirming that the Party and State always identify the overseas Vietnamese community as an inseparable part of the great national unity bloc, a valuable resource of the country, President Luong Cuong was moved to know that many Vietnamese workers, students, and brides are striving to rise up, and are trusted and highly appreciated by Korean friends; the Vietnamese community associations in Korea always maintain Vietnamese language teaching, organize cultural and sports activities, support each other, and express the identity of the Vietnamese people as kind, united, diligent and creative.
President Luong Cuong hopes that overseas Vietnamese will continue to promote the good traditions of the nation, actively improve their language, culture, knowledge and abilities to better integrate, contribute to the development of Korea and strengthen the friendship between the two peoples.
For associations and delegations, President Luong Cuong suggested that it is necessary to continue to maintain and promote the core role in supporting the community to integrate into the host society, unite, stick together, and build an increasingly stable and developed community; coordinate more closely with Vietnamese representative agencies in Korea, becoming a solid bridge for the friendly relations between the two countries and the two peoples.
President Luong Cuong affirmed that the Party and State are always ready to listen to the legitimate thoughts, aspirations and proposals of the people and through Vietnamese representative agencies in Korea; relevant agencies, ministries and branches are ready to seek appropriate and timely solutions; at the same time, always pay attention to protecting the legitimate rights and interests of the people, strive to expand cooperation programs on labor, education and create favorable conditions for people to return home to visit relatives, invest, do business, and contribute to the homeland.
President Luong Cuong suggested that Vietnamese representative agencies in Korea continue to promote their role as a bridge, coordinate the effective implementation of agreements of senior leaders between the two sides; do a good job of forecasting, advising and continuing to effectively and promptly implement community work and citizen protection.
On this occasion, President Luong Cuong presented gifts of Vietnamese books to the Vietnamese community in southeastern Korea, sending the people a message about preserving and passing on to their children the beautiful values of the mother tongue and Vietnamese culture - the bond that connects to the origin of the nation.
