On the morning of November 9, Mr. Tran Thanh Man - Politburo member, Chairman of the National Assembly - attended the Great National Unity Festival of Chau Thanh residential area at Tum Nup pagoda, An Ninh commune, Can Tho city.

Also attending were Mr. Lam Van Man - Member of the Party Central Committee, Member of the National Assembly Standing Committee, Chairman of the National Assembly's Ethnic Council; Ms. Ha Thi Nga - Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; Mr. Le Quang Tung - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee; leaders of Can Tho City and An Ninh Commune; venerable cardinal, superior, cardinal of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in the City, Association of Patriotic Monks and Monks in the City, and pillars of pagodas in the area.

Speaking at the Festival, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man expressed his joy and praised the achievements of Can Tho City and Chau Thanh Hamlet (An Ninh Commune) especially after the event of merging administrative boundaries from the old Soc Trang and Hau Giang provinces.
The National Assembly Chairman emphasized that the merger helps Can Tho City expand its area to more than 6,300 km2 and its population to about 4.2 million people, with a coastline, creating room for great socio-economic development. The Khmer ethnic group accounts for more than 400,000 people, approximately 10% of the population. In terms of economy, Can Tho City expects growth in 2025 to reach about 8.3%, reaching the target set by the Central Government. Poverty reduction work has achieved positive results, the poverty rate of the whole city is expected to decrease to 0.63% by the end of 2025. Chau Thanh Hamlet, An Ninh Commune alone currently has only 11 poor households (accounting for 0.98%).
The National Assembly Chairman also praised grassroots movements, especially the maintenance and promotion of national cultural identity at Khmer pagodas, typically Tum Nup pagoda with the achievement of winning first prize for 3 consecutive years in the Ngo boat racing for men and women in the Om Boc Ooc Ceremony (2023, 2024, 2025).
The National Assembly Chairman pointed out the areas in Can Tho City in general and Chau Thanh Hamlet residential area in particular that need to continue to be made efforts. In particular, focusing on improving educational qualifications and people's knowledge; promoting the lifelong learning movement, encouraging learning and talent. It is necessary to care for and develop household economy as a foundation for building cultural hamlets and cultural communes, improving the quality of sustainable poverty reduction, especially in remote areas and in the Khmer community.

On the occasion of the 95th anniversary of the Vietnam Fatherland Front's Traditional Day, the National Assembly Chairman requested the Can Tho City Fatherland Front to innovate the work of mobilizing the people, thoroughly grasping the instructions of General Secretary To Lam; taking cadres, party members, the Front and mass organizations as the core. Strictly implement "3 approaches" (near people, near the grassroots, near digital space); "3 Doctors" (listening, dialogue, taking samples, taking responsibility, reporting results); "3 No" (4 No's" (no formality, no avoidance, no pushing, no performing wrong functions).
The National Assembly Chairman requested the Front to continue promoting movements such as "All people unite to build new rural areas, civilized urban areas associated with the movement to protect national security; well implement the Grassroots Democracy Regulations according to the motto "people know, people discuss, people inspect, people supervise and people benefit".
The National Assembly Chairman especially emphasized the work of caring for policy families, meritorious people and poor households; continuing to mobilize social resources to support people in difficult circumstances. "In the past, the whole country has basically eliminated temporary and dilapidated houses, but after the flood, hundreds of thousands of households in many places had to rebuild their houses. Can Tho City has favorable conditions, almost not affected by storms and floods, only affected by high tides and receding, so it is necessary to promote this advantage to better care for people's lives," he requested.
The National Assembly Chairman noted that Chau Thanh Hamlet (An Ninh Commune) needs to pay attention to promoting the movement of encouraging learning and talent, ensuring 100% of children of school age, aiming to build a learning society, lifelong learning, improve people's knowledge and train human resources. At the same time, continue to promote cultural life, preserve identity and good traditions, especially in the Khmer community.
He also requested localities to strengthen security and order, promote the role of self-management groups, inter-family groups, crime prevention, drugs, electronic cigarettes and social evils; be vigilant and not let bad forces take advantage of, incite, or divide the great national unity bloc.

On this occasion, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man presented meaningful gifts to collectives and individuals in Can Tho City, contributing to strengthening the great national unity bloc and tightening community affection.


On this occasion, the City Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Can Tho City presented 5 Great Solidarity houses to 5 households in An Ninh commune, each worth 60 million VND. The total gift is worth 300 million VND. 20 scholarships for students who overcome difficulties and study well.
