On the afternoon of September 25, the National Assembly Standing Committee gave its opinion on the expected Audit Plan for 2026, the work report for 2025 and the report on the term of the State Audit (SA).
Speaking at the meeting, Politburo member and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man said that in 2025, the State Audit has done many things, notably strengthening budget settlement audits and public investment.
Citing the figure for the first 6 months of the year, recovering about 17,500 billion VND, the National Assembly Chairman said that this figure is not large but the important thing is to point out violations in agencies, units and localities.
Commenting on the 2026 audit plan, the National Assembly Chairman emphasized the need to strengthen supervision of waste prevention and control, urge the implementation of audits, general audits, and evaluation of policy mechanisms to avoid losses.
The National Assembly Chairman gave an example of overseas businesses that calculate very scientifically, even in receiving guests, not to waste from small things like food.
"I see that we are still wasting, wasting is not about food, but about preparing without eating. For example, organizing 20 parties but not having enough guests is a big fee" - the National Assembly Chairman said.
The National Assembly Chairman added that the issue of waste is currently being concerned in the fields of investment, basic construction, and land.
Therefore, it is necessary to prevent and combat corruption and waste in public financial management, paying special attention to detecting serious violations in handling public assets.
The National Assembly Chairman said that 2024-2025 has been done, 2026 continues to pay attention; must be transparent, public, and urge the implementation of audit recommendations.
Although many audits have been conducted recently, there are no strong solutions or sanctions to overcome the post-audits, the National Assembly Chairman emphasized.
Another very important thing is to focus on training, improving human resources, training, and fostering in conjunction with practice, building experiential exercise programs, streamlining staff, improving the quality of the audit team...
"We must choose cadres who are virtuous, talented, dedicated, qualified, and capable enough to be determined to work. This is an issue that the auditing industry also regularly audits, but in the future it must be further improved to improve quality" - the National Assembly Chairman shared.
The National Assembly Chairman also noted that the human resources are selected by him but at the same time, he must pay attention to the ethics of the auditing industry to contribute to the locality, build for local development and the person receiving the comments must dress up.
