On May 21, in Hanoi, Politburo Member, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man worked with the Standing Committee of the Ethnic Council on key tasks for 2026, term 2026-2031.
At the working session, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man requested the Ethnic Council to continue to innovate thinking in law-making, improve the quality of appraisal of draft laws, ordinances, and resolutions, especially for contents that have a great impact on the lives of ethnic minorities, ethnic minority areas and mountainous areas.
Promoting digital transformation, applying information technology and artificial intelligence in the activities of the Ethnic Council, helping to reduce document processing time, reduce administrative pressure, and create conditions for officials and civil servants to spend more time on policy thinking, improving the quality of law-making.
The Ethnic Council proactively monitors and comprehensively grasps the situation in ethnic minority and mountainous areas; closely coordinates with functional agencies to firmly grasp the socio-economic, security, and order situation in border areas and ethnic minority areas.
Strengthen connections with grassroots levels, especially key areas, border areas, and proactively propose appropriate solutions to consolidate national unity, maintain socio-political stability, national defense, and security.
The Ethnic Council must pay more regular attention to better care for the lives of ethnic minorities.
According to National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, many mountainous and remote areas still face difficulties in transportation, electricity, clean water, and internet; access to public services, access to information, technology, and digital skills is still limited; early dropouts still occur in some places, lack of schools, teachers, and learning conditions, and difficulty in absorbing knowledge.
Lack of high-quality medical facilities; difficulty accessing modern medical examination and treatment services, some places still have habits affecting health; many festivals and traditional crafts are at risk of gradually disappearing; educational level and living standards still have a large gap compared to urban and delta areas...
The National Assembly Chairwoman requested the Ethnic Council to continue to innovate working methods, improve efficiency and quality of work to ensure "clear people, clear tasks, clear time, clear responsibilities, clear authority, clear implementation results".
The workload is large, the requirements are high, it is necessary to switch to a new way of doing things; the spirit is more urgent, more scientific, more courageous, with deadlines, with products and with specific responsible people.
The most important thing is Party building work, especially political and ideological work; ensuring substantive solidarity and unity, absolutely not allowing the situation of "you and I" to occur. At the same time, pay attention to training and fostering cadres, ensuring professionalism and depth; reasonable assignment, not allowing many meetings but few products; not allowing wide assignment but unclear responsibilities; firmly grasp the actual situation, promptly reflect, propose, and contribute quality opinions to the Party and State's policies.
