On the evening of December 18, Chairman of the National Assembly of the Lao People's Democratic Republic Saysomphone Phomvihane and his delegation visited and worked in Soc Trang province.
Receiving the delegation was Mr. Lam Van Man - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Soc Trang province.
On behalf of the province and the people of Soc Trang, Secretary of the Soc Trang Provincial Party Committee Lam Van Man respectfully thanked Lao National Assembly Chairman Saysomphone Phomvihane and the members of the delegation for their interest in visiting and surveying the locality; creating conditions for the province to introduce and promote the image of the land, people and typical products. This is also an opportunity for Soc Trang province to exchange, learn and understand more about Laos.
The Secretary of the Soc Trang Provincial Party Committee hopes that the province will have the opportunity to cooperate with the Lao National Assembly, Government and investors through specific and practical programs and projects in the fields of economy, culture, society and many other fields.
"I hope that the two brotherly countries of Vietnam and Laos will continue to promote solidarity, build an equal, friendly and cooperative relationship between the two countries that is "forever green and forever sustainable" - said the Secretary of the Soc Trang Provincial Party Committee.
Lao National Assembly Chairman Saysomphone Phomvihane thanked the leaders of Soc Trang province and relevant units for their warm welcome, and wished Soc Trang province to further promote its potential advantages and build a prosperous and strong Soc Trang province.
Earlier on the same day, the delegation of Lao National Assembly Chairman Saysomphone Phomvihane visited and worked at Lac Hoa Wind Power Plant, belonging to Phong Dien - Lac Hoa Limited Liability Company, Vinh Chau Town.
A representative of UPC Group said that the unit started developing and constructing Lac Hoa wind power plant and Hoa Dong wind power plant (Vinh Chau town, Soc Trang province) since 2018. Currently, both projects have been put into commercial operation (COD) in March 2024, with a capacity of 30MW/project. As of October 2024, the two plants have provided a total of 90GWh of energy to EVN.
The delegation also visited the rice field of ST25 variety recognized for quality in Dai Tam commune, My Xuyen district.
Here, Labor Hero Ho Quang Cua - the father of the ST25 rice variety - a type of rice that produces delicious rice, twice honored internationally - said that Dai Tam commune is a key area for the production of certified ST24 and ST25 rice varieties that has been maintained for decades. In addition to concentrated production, all areas are carried out using the method of sowing and mechanical transplanting, in order to reduce the amount of rice seeds sown, limit pests, reduce production costs, and increase profits for farmers.
The Lao National Assembly Chairman highly appreciated the effectiveness of the models and said that Laos is also promoting the development of clean energy. At the same time, he thanked the province for supporting and donating ST25 rice varieties for Laos' development in the coming time.
